Born in 1981, grew up in Beeston. My lifeliong mate Raj who grew up across the street from me was (still is) an Everton fan, somewhat inexplicably, and when we were kids I just copied him so I said I was as well. My dad is from Kettering and more of a rugby fan so he wasn't in the business of converting me.

Primary School is what converted me. I went to Roundhill in Beeston. EVERYONE was Forest, we all played football, yelled at each other, and I gradually found my place. A f***ing red. Wouldn't surprise me if there was a few others from our year on this forum lurking somewhere.

Wasn't until secondary school (Spencer in Stabbo, f***ing shithole to be fair, absolutely awful place at the time) that I encountered "glory hunters". Man U and Liverpool fans. Made me more determinedly Forest.

I finally got my head down and taught myself to play football between the ages of 15 and 20 when I spent all afternnoon for about 4 years through 6th form , year 11, and post school, practising balance, dribbling, passing, close controll etc etc obsessively to the point where I could control that ball perfectly in almost any given situation. No idea why I stopped, I could have been a decent player at a moderate level had I carried on. But that determination and obsession pushed me further into loving Forest. I guess I want to see players wearing the shirt who have visibly put in those long hours. I can't abide players who can't control a ball. we've had an absolute army of those f*ckers over the last 20 plus years. It's been tough watching at times.

I was there on Black Friday vs Yeovil, lol. Jesus that was painful. These days I can't go to games, I work in an arts venue in the middle of town and work all weekend as a rule. Wouldn't swap it even for Forest. Could do with more money though. I will be willing them on tonight via some kind of stream. This team has absolutely sent my fandom to another level. By far the best I've seen. I was a little too young for the mid 90s teams and had no money for tickets. This team is full of passionate thinking players, you can see it means so much to them and the fans respond in kind. We have literally had the loudest crowds I've heard in football in years, anywhere. From Yeovil to this. The full spectrum of football. COYR!!!!!!

Great thread. Like many, my dad was my inspiration into getting into Forest. My first game was 1986. Forest 6 - Villa 0. I was hooked, ended up with a season ticket very shortly after and until I moved to Devon in 2001, I missed one home game in 15 years - new years day against Liverpool, a 1-1 draw in 1987. After moving to Devon, I still attended with my dad, who suffered from ill health, as often as possible. Although the last game we attended together was the infamous 3-1 demolition of WBA away. It was memorable as much for the bad as it was for the good. It was blisteringly cold as I'm sure some of you remember and my dad took ill before kick off and was rushed to a local hospital. I stayed for the game, more due to the fact that my dad's car was blocked in the car park, and went to pick him up from the hospital after the match, with my dad not knowing the result. The smile on his face when telling him will live with me forever, as will the photo I have with him after beating Yeovil in 2008 to seal promotion. Sadly he passed away in 2012. I don't get to go as often as I'd like nowadays, but when I do, I sit as close as possible so the seats we had for so many years in Block S of the Brian Clough stand and when we score, I always give a nod to him. If we do complete the miracle and get promoted this season, I will cry at a football match for the first time without my dad by my side.

Bump…just because I think a few people need to re-read this thread right now.

One result does not change how far the club has come.

Still massively proud of them. And we're not done yet. We can still do it, just need 3 more games.

Totally agree Congo. Automatic promotion would have been a miracle, via the play offs a dream but if we don't go up I'll still be sat in block T next season. Don't get me wrong I really really want us to get promoted but it doesn't change my Saturday afternoon if it doesn't happen.

My mum was born and bred in Beeston. Near Highfields Park.

Whenever I went up there we'd go to the chippy on the corner. I can't even remember the name of it (Humber Road I think?)

Growing up in London, everyone was Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea or Man United.

I stuck to my Forest.

We are still going to do this. Playoffs still give us a chance and these players have done us so proud so far. Forest are magic.

I can't say I'm particularly confident in us doing anything in the playoffs. I think injuries and fatigue are catching up to us. Proud of the lads though. Be sad to see Johnson and the loan players go, but every confidence in the club to adequately replace them.

Assuming that we don't win the playoffs, we'll be back next season. Still proud of the lads, just feels a step too far this year.

I think the best way to deal with this now is to have no expectations.

Tonight I feel we might have, wrongly or rightly, delivered pressure to the players.

The flares beforehand. Etc.

These players do better when they're just free of pressure doing their thing. As it was throughout the season. Let's just let them do their thing and see where it takes us. Get behind them but not too much.

Seems abit knee jerk tbh, we were abit tired tonight espeically in 2nd half but we've had two extremely difficult opponents away from home as well another game in the past 7 days.

We are the type of team you don't write off under Steve Cooper

We go again. We'll be there on the 13th/14th and 16th/17th, and then hopefully again in the 29th.

Maybe I'm just scarred by our abysmal past showing in the playoffs, but the playoffs will be equally tough as (if not more so than) tonight, and we are going to have to put in a much better showing than tonight to win.

It was a heroic effort to get this far, but I think there isn't much left in the tank now on tonight's showing. Hope I'm wrong, of course.

We usually bounce back from the rare poor performances we've had under Coops. The playoffs are tough and a lottery not going to lie but I have hope of a Wembley visit compared to other times, I think the 2nd leg being at the CG will be a help rather than a hindrance this time.

I hope you're right. Playoffs are a different kettle of fish altogether compared to league games though. I'm never confident in the playoffs, it often comes down to luck and whoever handles the occasion best. It's nice to be involved though, and if we don't win the playoffs lottery I am optimistic we'll bounce back next season.

Today is disappointing, and the playoffs will probably bring more disappointment. But it's not the end. The club is going in the right direction, and I'm confident if we stick with Murphy and Cooper we will do it within the next year or two.

I think I'm going to do something in my mentality from here on out.

And that is, I'm not going to build up Stevie Cooper or Forest to myself or friends.

I'm very superstitious. Tonight I went for it with all the videos and what it means to Forest.

I'm not going to respond now. I'm going to stay calm and just see where it takes us. No expectations.

With that calmness, we will have the best chance.

4 ?

Unless you think we are so good that whoever we have in the final just doesn’t bother turning up as they know we’ll lose.

It means the same as it always does and has for the last 70 years.

We go up, we go down, but Forest are still there and still to be supported.

I saw a van just down the road this morning whilst out on my exercise which said on a bumper sticker "Suffolk Shakers on Tour". A Darlington fan in our road in deepest Suffolk. That's a fan, for you.

You know that person is a real fan and not one of your adopted Prem plastics.

Same with us Forest fans, we support the team because they're our team and not for the trophies; though one or two would be nice.
