What goes around comes around eh Gascoigne?

Dont like Gazza but the full story just sounds like they were picking on a guy who clearly has a drink problem once he turned the free drinks off.

Cant be long till the guys dead. At least he ll be free of the clagnuts that have stuck to him since 1990.

Exactly, lets have some perspective ffs.

He's wrecked his life and is sad to watch.

Its terrible to watch... guys screaming out for guidance and it looks like the only time he'll have a break is when hes finally dead.

Gazza had some meat pies for his Dad & five bellies so he took the lids off and replaced the meat with dog food and then watched as his old man & five bellies microwaved the pies and eat them, f***ing classic

I dislike Gascoigne, but that's because he's pissed-away the talent he had, which just went to waste.

But it's almost tragic to see someone destroy themselves in public like this.

I still blame '91 on Roger Milford. Satan has a special corner of Hell reserved for him.

I don't think Gazza was the full shilling even before he started boozing

You're absolutely right mate.

He's quite obviously a bit of a simpleton, and although it pains me to say, can you imagine the player he might have been if he'd signed for Man U under Ferguson (as was rumoured at that time), who wouldn't have stood for any nonsense and might even have straightened him out?

"Remember the player that ruptured his ligaments in a game against us 26 years ago following his own bad challenge and then received a lenient decision from the referee? You know, the one thats life has been in an uncontrollable downward spiral ever since 1991? Good news everyone, a chav nearly beat him to death recently."

It reminds me of the Americans that openly celebrated the Japanese earthquake a few years ago, calling it karma for the attack on Pearl Harbour.

George Best pissed and screwed his life away, but apart from when he threw a mud pie at a Ref, I don't ever recall him behaving as bad as Gazza, on or off the field.

Sorry but some football grudges are worth harbouring, like with Brian Labone.

That's Mr Arsehole to you chappie.
That would somehow command that theres a bit of respect there.... there shouldnt be.

I know people who worked in low paid jobs that through that job had dealings with him. Some females that didnt know who he was. And he was an arsehole to them.

The guy was a chump.

I forgave him once he scored the best England goal I've ever seen.

Weak refereeing was at fault that day, not some crackpot.

I don't expect footballers to be whiter than white and Gazza isn't. Best got done drink driving twice, assaulted a copper, got done for theft and used to hit his wife. So was every bit as bad, if not very similar, maybe even worse.

Anyway sometimes geniuses like Gazza and Best are flawed in other areas. It takes all types. Life would be bloody boring if everyone was as dull as me!!

Fair point Gobias, though to be honest Best was really the first of the generation of playboy footballers, and I don't think many anticipated where it would lead to.

Jim Baxter was of the same ilk.

And speaking of Slim Jim, I remember seeing him sent off at the City Ground when playing for Sunderland.

I think this is in quite bad taste to gloat over Gazza's demise or anything negative happening to him. This is the most naturally gifted English footballer I've seen in my lifetime and his whole life is a tragic story in all honesty.

I've read Gazza's autobiography and he clearly suffers from mental illness and many demons. He was told to look after his friend's little brother when he was 10. Unfortunately the little brother was knocked down by an ice cream van and died, and he witnessed the event and has never forgiven himself for that. He would wake up screaming at a young age and developed ticks and would make strange noises out loud. I think this is where the mad moments come from with Gazza, based on adrenaline and probably thinking he deserves whatever happens to him if he goes all in.

He reminds me a bit of Mike Tyson in that he was a very naive and troubled young man, who never grew up and was exploited by many when he didn't know what to do with his new found wealth and fame.

The media over the years have done Gazza no favours either, dramatising every story and making him look worse than he was. And they loved it, hacking his phone and preying on a vulnerable man, almost sending him over the edge... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ukn...one-hacking-drove-me-to-brink-of-suicide.html

The guy needs more arms round his shoulders, and genuine ones.

You missed the word "just" after the word "not".

I'm still convinced to this day that Labone's act-of-violence deprived us of the double.

Agreed Otis, the double was looking good, with possibly even a better team than even BC created.

Irrespective of the result that Forest v Spurs Final had the potential to be the best one ever, it could not have been set up better, yet Gazza ruined it?
