We're DOOMED

Saw an article the other day that had us predicted to finish bottom haha Don't think it was a Derby fan that wrote it either. I'd be more surprised if we got promoted rather than relegated but i don't think either will happen.

Id have a bet on us going down but id want much better odds than 10/1..... I ain't seen us play this pre season but I've read enough from posters who's opinions are valid to think we will be ok. I just want the French dude to be here next season.

8th manager in 4 years, late bills, top scorer is a centre back, just two wins in the last 16 games..tell us something we don't know!
See that's all people can really write about us at the moment, past failures, and people criticise us for talking about the past!
I mean, the fact they're pretty much saying Britt might not get back to form just shows how pessimistic people are about us. Maybe with such low expectations we won't have such unrealistic heights to live up to.

Just like the football 'expert' Ian Holloway talked absolute drivel about us on SkySports, I suggest this Gabriel Sutton of 'The Football Lab' go back to his lab and mix himself up a brain with some actual intelligence when it comes to football predictions.

The article makes some good points and I think we'd be strong candidates for the drop if Fawaz was still running the show.

Predictions like this are a load of b******t, it's impossible to say what's going to happen with so many variables involved

Agree with others, it makes a lot of good points.

Here's the thing. Monty could shape this team into a really good side given time and backing. But did it really need that much of a re-shape? Not for me, for me it needed a decent manager to take the defensive 6 (including Vaughan) and gel a midfield with that - largely from players already here - to feed Britt and grab a few themselves via the likes of Pato & Lans.

Instead, we've decided to go the long way around, ignore what we already have here to a large degree, and reshape entirely. Doesn't mean it can't work though. There's a lot of valid points in there which I totally agree with, but for all the negatives which the peice righty points out it ignores a lot of positives & "outs". It casually skims over the fact that we've bought back 2 players who scored 18 goals between then last year, and doesn't seem to recognize we are still investing with genuine quality players such Kasami being targetted.

Also Fawaz (& I dare say Marinakis) won't sit on their hands if we're bottom 3 in Dec. Monty will be off like a shot if we are (rightly so too, I'm all for stability but bottom 3 is the time to make changes).

As Zed says, how anyone can be confident in any direction we take with so many variables in the pot seems strange. Would consider a 20/1 bet, but 10/1 seems too short.

And whilst Billy is available, we always have a man who can keep us up. In short, there's always hope with Billy around. Always. ;)

We were never in the bottom three last season with a very weak squad and a manager that a lot on here thought couldn’t manage so how come with a better squad of players and a very good manage we are getting the negative thoughts and talk of bottom 3 ?

To be fair, "very good manager" is bollocks really. Best anyone can say about him is that he's unknown and untested in a league like ours, as are some of these new players.

That's why I aint sure how anyone can confidetly predict any path we'll walk this year. So many unknowns anything could happen. You can throw the ever fluctuating FFP rules into that too.

Pre-season predictions are pretty much like taking a pile of stats and moulding them into anything that suits your argument.

Football pundits, like racing tipsters, only ever remind you about their predictions when they get it right. No one bothers to tell you about the multitude of failures they all have when trying to predict the future.

Much better to live in my happy haze of optimism until the real world comes crashing down.

Or, perhaps, this season, it won't and we will be celebrating come May.

Nothing we don't already know, however, we've got plenty of quality, plenty of players who in their own position are some of the best in the league. A lot of squads in the Championship are like that, the teams at the top are the ones who fit the pieces together. You don't see many teams so good they slaughter everybody... it's consistently turning the 0-1s into 1-0s that does it.

I think relegation is a bit much. But the attitude of let's throw things in the air and hope they land safely that the club is taking worries me a great deal.

Point is, like the last few seasons, I don't think we're anywhere near bad enough to go down. When we did go down to League 1, we actually were lacking in quality.

Agreed, and rather than making it easier i think the influx of new players in positions that we are already pretty strong in and have decent young players coming through will not only make it harder for the manager to see the wood for the trees and find his best team but also probably destroy any team unity that we seemed to have at the end of last season..

Looking at last season, i'd say we probably needed another decent striker (not Velios)and some extra quality in midfield... The plus from preseason is Cash, hopefully he'll get a fair crack this season as he seems to be the kind of chap that takes the bull by the horns..

we were? by my count, we had 1 right back, 2 left backs (one of whom is out injured for at least another couple of months and will be coming back from his second major knee injury) and 3 Centre Backs, 2 of whom only have a year left on their contracts and one of those is also injury prone, we have added (for no transfer fee and low wages) 4 new players, 1 of whom is only on loan and 3 of them can also play further up the field

Talk about being doomed is a good thing imo.

It keeps the expectation levels down, they've been ludicrously high in sections of the Forest faithful.

We are what we are.
