Ah! The good old days?I've suddenly realised that Wayne Hennessey was probably just a fan of On the Buses and was emulating his hero Stephen Lewis (Blakey) in this photo from 1971.

Walkout music The Teddy Bears Picnic. In the refs room at forest. Good luck to Wayne in his recovery
Considering this is for Hennessey, I'm grateful Forest aren't A) goose stepping onto the pitch; or B) wearing armbands emblazened with a certain insignia. In the refs room at forest. Good luck to Wayne in his recovery
At the moment with all fit it is clearly Sels > Turner > Vlach > Hennessey though maybe the last two could be the other way around. On the goalkeeping situation. If Sels is unfortunately injured for any length of time, are we really happy with Turner as back up?
I know he's here and we are short of ready cash because of PSR restrictions so possibly keeping him as reserve is financially sound, but in footballing terms is he an ideal second keeper?
Agree with most of this. We don't need the Greek and we don't need Hennessey for the #3 position.I fail to see the point of a team not in Europe having an expensive number three goalkeeper. They never play and if they did it would only ever be for a couple of games max.
Hennessey has cost us an absolute bomb to sit around doing nothing during his time here.
I’d much rather we did what Wolves did with Tom King (ex Newport, Salford) last summer. A decent, experienced lower league keeper on a free. We can offer them more wages than a starting league one keeper but it costs us chicken feed as a PL team.
If ever they have to play (off the bench once, or a couple of games while the other two are out once in a blue moon) it’s not disastrous but they are mainly there to help out with gk training. Also allows the young keepers to get out on loan and play.
Even better if they are a good character to have in the dressing room.
Someone like Jed Steer or Matt Macey would be fine as our number three next year.
Or even just bring Jordan Smith back; he’s literally played like 3 games in the last 6 years and is 30 in December. Doesn’t play at Stockport anyway so what’s the difference?
2k a week, help him get his coaching badges, counts as club homegrown should we ever get in Europe. Hennessey and Vlachula are probably on about 3m a year between them and neither will ever play. It’s things like this that annoy me when we fail PSR by a few million.

Most people accepted he wasn't good enough though, on the occasions when Henderson was ineligible and after his injury before we got Navas in.Hennessey was our number two keeper for much of his first season, and compared to some that have come after him this season didn’t do too badly really. Bit unfair to say he has done ‘nothing’.
Edit: actually he was our number two keeper for the entire of last season
Yeah but they hadn't seen Vlach play at that point. I don't think anyone's suggesting signing him up again next season are they? I'm not anyway. Most people accepted he wasn't good enough though, on the occasions when Henderson was ineligible and after his injury before we got Navas in.
Next season he will also be 2 years older.
