Tyrese Momodu Fornah

Don’t see why he couldn’t do what Colback was doing on Saturday? Especially alongside Yates/Garner who can be more advanced.

I think Tyrese is a decent young footballer.

BUT with his style being very much a sitter are there concerns he can fit into the current system?

For me, no, as I think he’d fit well as a „1“ in front of the defensive three?

3-1-4-2 if you like. Especially away from home.

Don't you think Yates/Colback and Yates/Garner has been very interchangeable.

It seems like one CM always has the freedom to push forward when in the game situation. Whichever of the midfield 2 it is. Like Colback popping up on the RW on Saturday.

That's a fair point. So it would have to be a different variant of the 3 at the back system.

I think it is good now that the U23s played 3 at the back for the first time. Looking to match up with the first team. They will be able to assess a few things and besides Fornah - the other is finding the right position for Fin Back.

Yeah I think Fornah can do that when needed, he looks confident and comfortable with the ball and under pressure.

Fornah can fit into either the 3421 or the 4231. Perhaps more natural in the 4231 which has a greater creative reliance from deep from the holding two, but even too in the 3421 as whilst now the two Central midfielders are both more energy players with the creativity being left to the wife centre backs, having Fornah in the midfield two would allow for a Chris Wilder underlapping centre back seat up as Fornah could do both the creative and defensive work.

In writing.

"It's an absolute privilege and an honour to extend my stay here.

"I have massive gratitude to everyone for really pushing to get this done and I'm delighted.

"It's a privilege to play for this club. I've basically grown up here in the academy and to have been in and around the first-team has been great, but I just want more and want to become a regular in the team."

Head coach Steve Cooper added: "We're delighted that Tyrese is committing himself to the club by extending his stay.

"It's now down to us as a football club to show a real commitment towards continuing Tyrese's development, with a plan to give him opportunities to play in our first-team in the coming years.

"He has shown a brilliant attitude in training and a real hunger to want to play games. We look forward to supporting him as best we can."

Excellent, excellent news. I was worried he would take a chance elsewhere with his lack of minutes this season.

Presumably he's been given some assurances from Cooper that there's a route into the first team next year.

Brilliant news, really liked what I've seen of him so far and I am happy we've got him signed up beyond this season.

This is very encouraging news. I fully expect Tyrese to go out on loan in January - preferably to a club challenging in League One.

Excellent news. Presume he's been given some confidence he'll get first team chances before too long.
Could be the successor to Colback over the next year perhaps.

Yeah most likely, he was the best player on the pitch against Bradford, will be interesting to see if he has an impact in L1.

I think he is good enough for the Championship based on what I have seen so far.

Glad he decided to sign a new deal, I thought he would go elsewhere to get minutes. It was always a difficult spot for him and the club, just as he was breaking through his contract was running out - means the club were less likely to invest in him.

Of the U23’s I have seen, Fornah is the stand out prospect.
If we are in the Championship again next season I predict he will be a major contributor.
If we are promoted, I think he will be sold in the summer.
The new contract probably has an eye on the second possibility as a way of upping the sale price.

Who knows Sinister but overall it has to be sensible business. Would just like to see him get a run in the first team in the next year or so. He’s certainly got the attributes and the self confidence

He speaks so well and seems genuinely delighted and proud of representing the club, that you wish he could get more games. As others have said this was probably tying him down before he goes out on loan and his contract expired at the end of the season.

Garner was signed to play as a playmaker in a 4-2-3-1 system, as part of the two.

Obviously hasn't quite worked out that way this season what with a shift to 3-4-3 with less of a need for that role, and then ending up as a #10 lately, but nevertheless that was the plan for him.

I think that will be the plan for Fornah next season, and I strongly suspect Colback will be let go because of that, as you'd then have Yates and Ojeda who are "busy" central midfielders who can play box to box, then you've got Fornah as a playmaker option (and Ojeda could potentially do this role too), and so the final piece of the jigsaw for me would a "destroyer" type central midfielder, who I used to think would be Yates but he seems to have morphed into something more more rounded, so we should aim to get an absolute unit like Sow.

That simply leaves no space for Colback, who whilst he's having a bit of a renaissance, is on expensive wages and isn't any better than those on half or a quarter of what he earns. So for me, he's an easy one to lose to ease wage burden and reallocate any money elsewhere, which of course is perhaps the route into the first team that Fornah needed to understand before signing the contract.

You're assuming Colback's contract runs out in the summer. I've not seen anything official stating the length but would have expected more noise if due to be renewed. I've a funny feeling he would have grabbed a 3 year deal to take him to 2023. If it does run out at the end of this season, I'm with you in terms of letting him go.

Dane/Coopers mantra is to blood the youth and I'm really surprised Fornah hasn't even had a seat on the bench this season let alone action on the pitch(bar the League Cup). I can only assume SC doesn't want to rock things too much while the going is good and promotion a possibility. A loan for the 2nd half of the season would be best, worked wonders for Brennan.

Indeed. I thought I'd read it somewhere but clearly just making that assumption up.

Transfermarkt has him down as contract expiring in 2023. Official Forest website didn't confirm length of contract.

Could be any of them to be honest, this summer, next or 2023.

Signing players like Tyrese is an insurance, rather like Red Bull taking a chance on new tyres last race.

The ability to spot young players who will break through is more an art than a science and, if you think a youngster has the talent, then I reckon it's better to sign him rather than just let him go.

I’m sure I read somewhere on twitter about him going on loan to blackpool. But can’t find the link now. Probably just someone guessing as we have previous dealings with them.

There's a possibility that the contract situation may have played a part in his lack of action too - after all, what is the point of blooding a youngster who may have been leaving shortly?

Fornah has played immediately infront of the back 4 for the U23's, acting as the playmaker from deep.
It would be interesting to see if how he would perform in a more advance "10" sort of position.
I think the lad has the football brain, the confidence and the ability to go far in the game... hopefully with Forest.
