I remember being excited about Fashanu's arrival, hah. We still had Trevor Francis then, not for long though.
Zaha on loan? Billy tried a while back.

Alfie Haaland. Clough had been chasing him for ages without success. Frank Clarke managed to get him in eventually.

That actually isn't the case. Alfie signed, but had to wait until Norway got things sorted with EU before playing.
I think Håland was signed as early as 1992, and Norway signed the EEA agreement (a right good rodgering for us, really) in 1994 or 1993. I could always look it up.
It was a work permit issue for Håland in any case.

Another vote for Henri Lansbury. He looked great while on loan at Norwich and West Ham and it seemed like quite a coup to get him here permanently.

David Johnson was an exciting signing as he'd been banging the goals in for Ipswich. I remember I was buzzing when we got Aaron Ramsey, even though it was just on a short-term loan.

As for January, Shane Long would be a great signing.

I remember Lansbury coming for a lot of criticism under SOD - another victim of a few "get rid!" calls - and after seeing him at Norwich a fair bit I was proper gobsmacked. So glad he's come good since. At 22 he's got bags of improvement still in him :)

When I thought we were signing Baggio and Romario!

That's where everything went wrong, right there!

When I heard we were signing Bryan Roy I nearly laid an egg.

A Dutch international, World Cup player signing from Serie A?

Yes please.

Verhoek was one I was excited about. When it didn't happen it was obvious that things would end badly for SM.

Unfortunate he had to stay during a night of rioting. Must have shat a brick and wondered what he had let himself in for, and somewhat wisely (with little experience of the country he was moving to) decided to clear off. Not sure we can blame SMC, MA or ND for this one.

Neil Lennon. Mad as a March hare, Scottish temperament, allegedly seen shagging a players wife in her front room. What's not to like?

Peter Shilton. Couldn't believe he was coming to Forest, and it took us to another level. Closely followed by the signing of Trevor Francis, who was something special.

PVH and SVC were also benchmark signings.

In recent times I thought Billy Sharp would become a Forest Legend

Don't get too excited, expect a league one striker.
In any case we have got Miller back and Halford is looking good (plus Tudgay)
How many more strikers do we want, need to find the best combination and for me we need players to Allow our
midfield to shoot. I've started a thread for Halford and Miller. Please consider why it is that players like
McGoldrick leave and score goals, there have been too many changes.

We need to learn lessons from not giving players a proper run in the team, Lascelles is one, think he's better
than Wilson and Patrick Bamford was never given the chance when nobody could buy a goal for us.

I await pelters.
