I'm definitely not selling a fukcing move!
There always seems to be an obstacle, residents, boat clubs, infrastructure, council, baby Jesus needs the City Ground to store his moonbeams. We're not talking about stupid people here, the odd drunk possibly, but these people know how to get stuff done, if there's a will for it.
I'm not buying it.
Any new stadium does not have to be a 'crisp bowl' type of thing. I do not want one of those, and they are not popular with the fans of Derby, Southampton, Leicester, Boro, Coventry ... I could go on. Folks go because they support the team, but they hoped for better. The industry that is football has learned the lessons of the quick, cheap prefab grounds and won't be doing that again.Doesn't matter what is seen as desirable or not, locals don't tend to want a football ground being plonked on their doorstep and the objections would make those opposing the current plans to extend the capacity of an existing stadium seem like minor grumbles in comparison.
Unless there has been some major changes to how planning permission works in the UK recently that I am not aware of, any new ground close to the city centre or our current location is not going to happen.
If we do end up leaving the City Ground (like some people on here want to) and we inevitably end up at a Pride Park style stadium, don't say we didn't warn you.
Here is another point, Mr. Marinakis insists he wants Forest punching at the top end of the table, and playing for a European place. If we are to actually push forward the City Ground needs to be bringing in revenue year round, as it stands even if we had top class corporate facilities I’m not sure why anyone would want to pay to use them when the ground is as filthy as it is.
It needs a shit load of work doing to it to be to at the standard we need it to be - also there’s 0 chance we move from the current location as I doubt EM wants to spend the amount of cash it would take to build a whole new stadium with how much things are costing today.
Apparently Everton had a £500m estimate on their new stadium and it’s going to end up costing £800m and I doubt we would want to spend the best part of £1B on a stadium.
Wasn't that to do with most of the stadium being Standing Terraces?FC Union Berlin had to play their European matches at the Olympiastadion, because their Stadion an der Altern Försterei failed UEFA‘s criteria
It was ok for England U21 game last year so should be fineHere is another point, Mr. Marinakis insists he wants Forest punching at the top end of the table, and playing for a European place.
In the - perhaps unlikely - event Forest did qualify for Europe (stop laughing at the back) I am not convinced the stadium in its current iteration would be even acceptable for European football, given the state it is in?
UEFA are a picky bunch, and there are some stadia in Europe that have fallen foul of their rules (1. FC Union Berlin had to play their European matches at the Olympiastadion, because their Stadion an der Altern Försterei failed UEFA‘s criteria).
We’ll not need ta worry about that until the season after next .Here is another point, Mr. Marinakis insists he wants Forest punching at the top end of the table, and playing for a European place.

Partly, but also the media facilities and overall capacity (22k-ish, much of that standing) as it doesn‘t have rail-seats, unlike many other German grounds.Wasn't that to do with most of the stadium being Standing Terraces?
Aye, costs are going through the roof and show no sign of easing. Whatever we are going to do then the sooner we get going the better / cheaper it will be. However, a new build on a brownfield site will be cheaper per seat (even allowing for decontamination costs) than cramming a rebuild onto a hemmed in site with conditions about working practices as a result of local objections. If we are to actually push forward the City Ground needs to be bringing in revenue year round, as it stands even if we had top class corporate facilities I’m not sure why anyone would want to pay to use them when the ground is as filthy as it is.

I have it on good authority that UEFA like their stadiums to have running waterHere is another point, Mr. Marinakis insists he wants Forest punching at the top end of the table, and playing for a European place.

Costs have gone up, yes absolutely, but there is no need to see 500 creep to 800 with good PMing; that I would suggest is incompetence, possibly from both sides. If we are to actually push forward the City Ground needs to be bringing in revenue year round, as it stands even if we had top class corporate facilities I’m not sure why anyone would want to pay to use them when the ground is as filthy as it is.

The change in Everton's cost base was all inflation.Everton have really pushed the boat out (no pun intended) at Bradley Moor Dock. They did though have to drain the dock and fill it in, not cheap, plus a big environmental programme. Not all of the quoted cost is directly on the stadium itself, there's a lot that's had to be spent on the site and the surroundings.
I disagree, but even if you are a throw-in-the-towel faintheart, returning to the Championship won't make the Taylor Stand any less fit for purpose.Future sustainability lol, we will be back mid-table in the Championship on 23-24k next season. No need to move anywhere or expand anything then.
The Peter Taylor stand needs replacing whatever league we're inFuture sustainability lol, we will be back mid-table in the Championship on 23-24k next season. No need to move anywhere or expand anything then.
Going to be mint watching 20k fans turn up to watch us lose at home to Preston in our swanky new 50k bowl in Toton.
I can even put my feet up on some of the empty seats next to me.
Why make it like the old place? Who gives a shit about the legacy fans who care about history and identity?A move to Toton would be financially a good idea and we could build a stadium which can generate even more revenue.
A total win for everyone.
For anyone who is worried that it may not work - Don't! We can soon make it just like the old place (apparently).
Actually it’s the very reason why we should be very quickly moving to generate the fundsFuture sustainability lol, we will be back mid-table in the Championship on 23-24k next season. No need to move anywhere or expand anything then.
It wouldn’t matter, as the current ownership would undoubtedly piss any additional revenue up the wall on overpriced shite, same as they’ve specialised in doing for the last couple of seasons.Actually it’s the very reason why we should be very quickly moving to generate the funds
Nottotoningham Sidings. Why make it like the old place? Who gives a shit about the legacy fans who care about history and identity?
Let's go full MK Dons; change the club's name, badge and colours!
And suggestions for the new name and colours? Any of our resident artists fancy knocking up a new badge?
Not a given that a new ground would actually make much more revenue if we weren't in the Premier League either. It wouldn’t matter, as the current ownership would undoubtedly piss any additional revenue up the wall on overpriced shite, same as they’ve specialised in doing for the last couple of seasons.
