The Toton idea is not without merit. Motorway, railway and tram. However, it's miles from where we are now and as I have said, fans are creatures of habit. it might help us attract new fans because of the location, but for me it's not a desirable option at all. The room is there and a fantastic ground could be constructed relatively cheaply, but I think this is more about some Councillors trying for a bit of PR, hence the 'last resort' comments. I've no doubt that the local authorities would have a largely negative view due to traffic, that's Broxtowe and, over the border, Erewash. Planning therefore would not be straightforward.

Toton? f*** off.

I would sooner Forest played in Chernobyl, it’s a nicer area.

I’d rather shave my private parts with a rusty cut-throat razor than Forest play at Toton.

Not unlike yourself then.
Interjecting with the sole intention of causing trouble is just plain old trolling
My intention wasn't to "troll" you, if that's the way you see it. I was merely asking why you have a "feeling" that EM has committed several million pounds in order to "play the fans like a fiddle" whilst seeing the new development as "a red herring"?

Wherever any potential new ground is going to be is going to be awful. We are never going to get planning permission to build a new ground near our current location or near the city centre.

There's a reason why new grounds in this country tend to be soulless out of town bowls, let's not kid ourselves into thinking Forest would somehow be the exception to the rule.

For those of us that value the club's history and identity, its vital we remain at the City Ground. Because the alternative is to become a facsimile of Derby, Middlesbrough and the like; a club with no soul, identity or character where the only difference between them is the name and the colour of the seats.

Let's hope the club and the council can reach an agreement so that the club that we know and love stays alive.

Toton is a no from me. I can see why the County Council want to, shall we say, 'contribute to the debate', and they did say 'last resort', but I remain of the view that if the move is on then close to the railway station is ideal (and no, you'd never get it passed to build a stadium on Broadmarsh).

Historically yes, but things are changing. Newcastle are likely to move but even closer to the station. Derby is handily placed for the station, but the parking is terrible and public transport other than the railway is dire (hence their extensive use of supporters buses). Sunderland moved closer to town as well. The days when a Bolton type development was seen as desirable have long gone.

Nice idea just doesn't have the transit hub like an east midlands parkway ground would have.

Also not sure what drinking options are like in East Leake? With the East Midlands Parkway option theres at least a Motorway Moto services with a Costa for fans.

I am in full agreement with you, Maxi. The move to EMP is the most likely outcome.

As far as I can see, the main objectors are those that live close to the current stadium. That somehow they are "more Forest" than those that live in places such as Thrumpton, Kegworth, Lockington or Gotham; that because they can roll seamlessly from their ivory towers in West Bridgford, Wilford and Carlton into the boat club, then into their seat for the match before heading home - full of peanuts and John Smiths - to collapse onto their sofa, the only inconvenience suffered being the fact they've soiled their underpants and their kebab delivery is running 5 minutes late.

Yes, it's time to accept and welcome our move to The Parkway Ground. It's the future.

Doesn't matter what is seen as desirable or not, locals don't tend to want a football ground being plonked on their doorstep and the objections would make those opposing the current plans to extend the capacity of an existing stadium seem like minor grumbles in comparison.

Unless there has been some major changes to how planning permission works in the UK recently that I am not aware of, any new ground close to the city centre or our current location is not going to happen.

If we do end up leaving the City Ground (like some people on here want to) and we inevitably end up at a Pride Park style stadium, don't say we didn't warn you.

Excited, Rocka!

I'm heading back to the homeland today for a visit and I've worked out I'll have enough time to pop over to Ratcliffe and have a recce of the new stadium site :)
Enjoy yer trip Walter. (y)

I was in the Bass House and the Oxford yesterday.

If we moved to near EMP, we could build a new stadium with both a Trent End and a Soar End😁......sorry, just trying to lighten the mood

I completely agree with your sentiment about the CG, but I also think there's possibly some basis to talk of the council seeing a new stadium and commercial opportunities attracted by it as a way to uplift the Eastcroft/Cattle Market area, let alone the council funding benefit of a big windfall from selling the CG and surrounding land for riverside residential development.

Oh aye? Paul Walkers too, I expect? Has the Owd Boggers meet up moved from Thosdee to Fridee, then?

On that point . . .

Long Eaton could become the new hub for pre match boozing, couldn't it? It is, after all, only a short stroll from the High Street down Tamworth Road to the train station where there are frequent services to EMP. The lazy/fat types could catch one of the many/regular buses that go that way too after emptying the shelves in Greggs. I believe the Sky Link bus goes all the way to the new stadium site so any bed wetter types - fearful of catching a train - could travel in comfort and style. I'm told they also have USB chargers on the bus!

Such exciting times to be a Forest fan! You Reds!

Don't apologise, Ken! It's fantastic news

It could be the "New Trent End", the 'Soar End', the 'Power Station Stand' and the 'Kegworth Kop'!

Having said that, that assumes 4 separate stands and I'm encouraged to believe the new stadium plans do away with that old fashioned kind of thinking and that we have a bowl type construction to look forward to at our new home on the banks of the Soar. Hopefully Forza Garibaldi are drawing up plans to encourage Mexican waves amongst supporters.

Once we're settled into our new home, the City Ground will be a warm but vague and distant memory!
