The minute people mention "transport links" is the minute I switch off.

Who gives a toss about good access from the motorway etc, I want to get the bus and have a few beers on route or the way back in town. Transport link is called the train or bus! If it has to move it has to be no further away than we currently are, balls to all this other stuff.

I'm from Nottingham and this is my club, I've no interest in getting trams or buses into the middle of nowhere, get to f*** with that idea.

Moving to East Midlands Parkway for example gives us the ability to change our name to East Midlands Forest and market the club to people who otherwise wouldn't be interested following Forest.

You've got to think big now that we're Premier League. This 'I ain't moving' from legacy fans will just hold the club back. We missed an opportunity this season to crack on with that with all our local rivals in lower leagues.

good shout we should build it near east leake and put half the stadium on the leicester side of the border to get new fans from leicester to replace the Nottingham fans who refuse to go the new ground

Nice idea just doesn't have the transit hub like an east midlands parkway ground would have.

Also not sure what drinking options are like in East Leake? With the East Midlands Parkway option theres at least a Motorway Moto services with a Costa for fans.

Nottingham's dirty secret
The boundary is also blurred a bit by:
1. the A453, like the A46 which was dualled at the same time, is trunk as well as primary. But the LA builds the road, and then HE maintains it. I think this applies to improvements of existing trunk routes as well as new ones but could be wrong here. (I think the only other trunk route in the area is the A52, aside from the A1 of course).
2. Actual local councils in two-tier areas (such as all of Notts bar the city council) have different delegated responsibilities to the unitary councils. So in Notts, the responsiblilty for highways is not with the likes of Rushcliffe, Gedling, Ashfield etc councils but with Notts CC who subcontract this out to via, but in the case of the A453 you'd still be talking about 3 authorities, unless it was built by HE as an existing trunk route which might even involve extra people.

I think that in both cases of the A453 and A46 we had the benefit of the MP for Rushcliffe being a cabinet minister at the time, and a genuine good bloke.

It is important for some people though I agree with your general sentiment.

The matchday experience is individual, guess some people prefer to make it all day, have some food and beers or whatever before and after, and won't be driving at all. In that case transport links are important too but you don't realise. You would still need to walk to the bus and then from the bus to the pub/ground and afterwards too. I guess also for those people, having plenty of choice and plenty of capacity in the pubs is important too and that's something you won't be necessarily getting in an out of town location, and unless you happen to captain Derby County isn't something you would be driving to or from.

As for others, well, some people would probably on the contrary just prefer to go to the match and then leave after it. So they don't care too much about venues near the ground for other things but probably need to be in and out efficiently. indeed this is probably needed for a while before and after meaning somewhere like EMP or Fairham or even Gamston isn't really suitable anyway. Or for others who the experience is fine listening or watching the match at home - and for whom the ground and locality isn't really in the picture at all

The transport links are key even if you choose not to be particularly interested in it. I think actually what you're saying in that respect is it needs to be connected to the PT network reasonably so you can get the bus home and the bus to the ground and fit in the pre and post match activities without needing to use a car. That still needs transport links and if there were no buses at the time of the match etc you would still need this link to be considered when looking at a ground location! It has to be said that in general Nottm has used a hub and spoke model for most major bus routes for some time now. I do remember when the 28 I think it was started by Carlton Forum and then went over Carlton Hill, through the city centre and out to Wollaton/Bilborough area, but then they went with this line colour thing in the early '00s or there abouts, and it got split off into the 28 for the western half and the 27 for the eastern. And I suppose though there are routes like the 25 which goes through Carlton then Gedling then through to Mapperley and Arnold, and the 53 which is the total outlier starting in Arnold and ending up in Clifton, most of NCT's services start in the city centre. (Ironically, in the case of the 25, I've often found Mapperley to home being quicker using the 44 or 45 into town whichever it is then coming out on the 25, 26 or 27, but still...)

Sorry if it's a bit tl;dr but the point is we're already latching onto whatever is there. And in the case of a new stadium it needs to be near the transport hub. The CG just manages this as it's walking distance just about from the centre and the buses over Trent Bridge are frequent enough to cope with those who can't. I understand your personal uninterest but I'm also sure you'd notice if it wasn't there ;)
Ffs Statto my finger's aching just from scrolling down that bad boy.

Worcester Warriors have a ground no longer used with plenty of land to expand. I think you're not seeing a big enough picture with East Midlands Forest. We could surely use 2 different grounds and be Midlands Forest.

Absolutely agree that the stadium is best placed as close as possible to railway station / tram / bus stops. Where we are is 'not too bad' from the city centre, unless it's raining!

My point about the A 453 and local authorities is that those local authorities have planning involvement. One proposed route for the 453 was between Clifton and Ruddington, with a new junction on the 52 ring road. Ruddington fancied it I heard but we won't delve into that now! If the local authority objects, as Broxtowe did with the proposed 453 route over the rived (new bridge needed!) it delays things for ages. Once agreements are made, the building of it and the maintenance of it are not to do with Rushcliffe and so on, but they are extremely influential before any spades are in the ground.

My be an option is decide roughly where we want the ground. Then instead of a COO, or maybe it's one of their TORs, make a Independant Councillor proposal and get get all the fans to vote for them, get them in office and literally own the planning etc.

Don't panic - it's not a serious proposal and is full of holes ..🤣

Why do you think the fans are being played like a fiddle & by who
I think they’re getting Forest mixed up with Leeds and Jimmy Saville.
