completely untrue
Wouldn't it be completely untrue if they'd never negotiated it?

The minutiae of the deal didn't get completed but the council actually passed a motion to extend the lease, so there was an 'in principle' agreement.

The club needs to be held to account. I don't have an issue with that but it should be done while being clear about the accuracy of the claims and the allegations.

I wonder if the new "fan advisory board" will bother to seek answers as to why Randall told us that we had secured a 250 year lease on the land which was completely untrue. Whilst also seeking to find out why he told us we wouldn't breach FFP shortly before we breached FFP.

These are the most pertinent questions regarding the clubs stability and future whilst addressing an honesty & integrity issue towards supporters regarding a Director. If this new panel haven't got the minerals to ask these questions then they lose all credibility immediately too.
I article from 2019 is still available for anyone who wants to refresh their minds.

It seems like a lot of what happened, occurred under the watch of Randall.

Yes. I don't have an issue with that.

But to say it was 'completely untrue' is in fact, untrue, there was an an 'in principle agreement'. A normal person would expect this to be completed.

Randall isn't a normal person but a KC.
I think there is a fair charge against him here for not having overseen the completion of the deal that was clearly in the table.

I keep pulling people up for wanking over the best legal minds - Randall was one of them until he wasn't. This is where it gets you.

Being economical with the truth springs to mind with the claims. The statement that came out clearly leads people to the conclusion we had secured the lease .

I don't disagree.

But there was an agreement in principle. The Council agreed to it in a full meeting. The minute was recorded. I posted a link to it.

My challenge to you is over the 'completely untrue' bit.

It might not have been faithful to the legal status of the lease, but for it to be completely untrue there would have to not even have been any agreement.

Lots of things operate on 'in principle' agreement. In fact, the whole development only has permission in principle. Until the Section 106 agreement is signed-off, including the deal between the club and boat clubs, there is no permission.

I agree but only to an extent. This part remains completely untrue.

Tom Cartledge said to Danny Taylor that the plans for the Bridgford End were 'ready to go' for planning approval. An extra 5,000 seats at that end. I can't believe that he would have said that if there had not already been pre-application discussions with Rushcliffe (the planning authority) and Notts County Council. Leaving aside for now the issues with the City Council re the lease, it must be the case that Forest have got a 'go' on raising the height of the BE roof. Forest own some property on Colwick Road, the former 'hostels', but what about Roseberry? If the green light has been given, great. I'm looking forward to seeing this 'master plan'.

WB is already gearing up to campaign about parking. I have many issues with WB but I do see their point on this one; if emergency vehicles and carers can't get around something needs to give. Residents only parking schemes will help a bit, but half the good folks of WB don't want such thing. Battles ahead. Park and Ride schemes will be needed and Forest will be asked to contribute for sure.

My dad remembers the 60's and 70's with 40,000+ attendances and he has the solution. "Just bloody walk". I can't argue with that.

Randall's statement here is followed by a statement from David Mellen, the other party in the deal.

They are both speaking on the basis of an in princple agreement that it is going forward and work can commence.

To that extent, it is true.

Yep. Just bloody walk. I have never had a problem with getting to the ground from North of Nottingham by public transport and since I was 60 it has cost me absolutely nothing.

I was raised on Bathley Street Sammy and the recreation ground was an important place as I grew up in the Meadows. Back then (the '50s and early-mid '60s) it was always well maintained and vandalism was rare. It's sad how it's been allowed to deteriate in the way it has, which probably reflects the lack of funding available to the council. That notwithstanding, it still serves as an invaluable green space in a largely deprived area.

It always was mate, but as you imply, the condition it's now in is a sad reflection of the general state of the country in my opinion, along with the pot-holed roads, loss of libraries, crumbling schools etc. etc.

That said, it would be a great location for a new stadium and community hub.

Meadows recreation ground looks almost perfect. Next to river, tram stop near by, park and ride easily sorted. Cycle routes etc. bridge access

Really want Forest to stay but the situation could become untenable for Forest long term goals.
Grass roots football is important. Where are the teams that play there going to go?

Im in the high 60s for English grounds visited watching forest away every other week, I'd get in the ground early and always have some food in the ground...I can't comment on the prem grounds as most of them I haven't been in this time round but the catering for the price paid whereever you go is pretty shit..... like going to the pictures, just expensive over cooked shite served by a kid who gives as many fucks as some of the mercenaries I've paid to see in the garibaldi
