I must admit that I'm not certain I'll live to see the project finished, what with the additional work planned after the Taylor stand is completed.

My missus hit a f***ing pot hole last night exploding the tyre.

The council are getting it! f***ing sick to death of the state of the roads around me.
It always both amazes and disappoints me when I visit the UK, the absolute state of the roads?

Potholes, constant roadworks (which consist of loads of cones and no actual work), traffic congestion, and vandalism of road furniture and signage.

Does nobody actually care any more?

No budget to be fixing 'em.
Like everything else, the Tories cutting NI in an attempt to save their own arses is more important.

At the risk of going all political, there actually does seem money is available. At every sign of trouble, the Government say they have injected X million pounds to sort the problem. But there is never a plan to go with the money.

Then when we need money to solve a long-running problem like an NHS or teacher's strike, the pot seems empty.

Yeah, but they have Fifty Billion Quid to spunk on American Trident missiles that don‘t even work.

Yes, absolutely that.
There's also, suspiciously, a lot less money available to places that have a local Labour council.
I see a lot less potholes in Peterborough than when I'm in Nottingham.

The last time I was in Nottingham, the state of the roads was shocking. Ruddington as well, the seemingly never-ending roadworks causing massive congestion in the village, and the overall state of the roads, it seems every street has either potholes or cracks or other damage, and it never gets fixed.

What exactly is the delay at this point Otis?

I've grown so bored of it I've lost interest.
Resulting from his interview with Tom Cartledge, Danny Taylor confirmed that after agreeing a new 250-year lease with NFFC in 2019, before the relevant contract was signed the city council decided to quadruple the terms of the-then agreed annual rent.

Don't get me going on potholes! I've had to replace three tyres in the last two years and I've not got a cent back in compensation. It is an absolute joke, and I do understand the predicament of all councils (more demand for services, less government grant, and so paying for my tyres is something they will fight tooth and nail to avoid).
Re stadium development, I am told that some very large water tanks have been installed at the BC/TE corner. Whether this is water for the toilets or whether it is to support the pitch irrigation system I don't know (the existing 'tank house' is to be demolished for container corner work). Whatever, the congestion at that point, where fans are moving in opposite directions, was a problem last night apparently. A wheelchair user was in difficulties in the crush, whilst others, no doubt full of ale, decided to start an argument about pushing and shoving. I wasn't there, all I know is what a good and sensible friend told me, but it does not look good in terms of expanding the capacity. Those boat sheds between the TE and the Lady Bay Bridge would be a useful acquisition if (and I stress if) the club is serious about staying and rebuilding.
Meanwhile, the Tory County Council is bellyaching about people standing up!
I did a quick measure up last night, There's now way that rails can be installed because the tread and riser dimensions are too tight (and people larger than me will testify to that). So, if 'safe standing' is coming (and I stress if) then it's new seating arrays, not just rails.
I'll share that I am frustrated with Forest over the stadium development. I don't want five years of disruption (18 months from commencement for the PT, then a further 18 months on the BE if they start straight away, then lower BC and BC Upper concourse will be a good five years in total even if the planning goes smoothly). At the end of that we will have a very atmospheric stadium that will be inadequate after a very short time. That's my view and I accept that it's a minority view, but if your head rules your heart which mine does (on infrastructure projects at least) then something in the planning at Forest needs to change.

Mate, don't get me started. It rages me man I swear.

The roads around me are literally falling to pieces, its the worst I've ever seen it. Every time it hits freezing the chewing gum that they filled it in with last time just falls to pieces and take more road with it. My 5 minute drive home from Carlton to Mapperley consists of swerving several massive bastards. The missus wasn't so lucky yesterday 🙄

You should see in our village.
We have drain covers disappearing where run-off water has washed away the mortar and some of the brickwork.
along the road out of the village, a quarter of a mile away from our house, the road is disintegrating and becoming impassable to anything but a proper 4*4 (and I don't mean Ulrikakakaka in a mini).
we had L.C.C. highways out to have a look and their verdict was "no need for remediation yet".
L.C.C. is financially in a worse state than N.C.C., so i doubt road safety is the key element in the decision making.

One other problem I have noticed in the UK, is the ever increasing number of heavier, SUV-type vehicles, cars that are much more damaging to road surfaces, so that means the roads get torn up even worse, prompting more people to go and get themselves an SUV, because the roads are in such a state…

Yes, the Germans like a nice Mercedes G-Wagen or Porsche Cayenne, but the German road surfaces seem to take this into account, indeed, there were some recent works on a road near where I live, and they came and stripped the entire road surface down to the bed, before relaying (at least) two courses on top. And they did a stretch of about 200m, in a couple of weeks.

There was a piece on a news programme last night about how short councils are and How much they will have to put up council tax if they don't get extra money from the government. Their only alternative would be to use there contingency money. Isn't that what contingency money is for, to be used when you can't get it any where else. That is what rainy day funds are for isn't it? It's pouring at the moment all over the place.

And it's Lincs where I have had three tyres ruined, and Lincs where I have been denied compensation (i could pursue it legally but that would cost more than my relatively expensive tyres). Lincs is in a right state in terms of the finances, not just roads. No doubt it will still be blue on the map after the election, and therein lies the problem.

I notice that the Ben Bradley-led, Tory-controlled Notts County Council have begun dealing with pot-holes affecting Rushcliffe, Gedling and Broxtowe which, coincidentally, happen to currently be Tory constituencies.
