Exactly. How ambitious are we? How ambitious are we to provide top level facilities for the fans? Perhaps the failure to invest at the current place. other than cosmetic things, suggests that the owner is in fact thinking ahead.
having said that, surveyors were on site yesterday!
Maybe they were measuring up to see how many containers we can squeeze into the corners.

Ah so a Leicester fan off his tits on a questionable white powder, encroaches onto the pitch means we're all at it? Don't get me wrong, it is a concern, but with the right security in place and people like this being banned from stadiums permanently.. It should be minimal going forward.

Focusing on infrastructure then, honestly I don't see much better elsewhere. Buses are permanently trash. I have no faith in the railways(used them for playoff final day, never again) nor the tram(has big spells of just being broke). Even getting around by car is major problem as Cadent seem to have dug up most of the roads(and when they aren't at it, Severn Trent take the opportunity)

How many times has a player been seriously injured by an encroaching fan?

How many fans have been seriously injured in pens?

Just got Bing's Image Creator to design a new PT stand. I like it.

Nothing to do with those horrible Thatcher pens. Look at the qatar world cup stadia for an idea. The concern is that someone could gets seriously injured and in stadium design, how to prevent that happening which seems perfectly reasonable to me. There's also the fact that the front couple of rows are just a awful from a spectators, dare I say, point of view!

I think, I'm sure, it's something to do with that. Perhaps also about moving the 'big tele' higher up, and getting a bigger one still? There's a camera position to fir in there as well. Something was also going on in the corner between TE and PT but I couldn't see what.

Or a forum member double checking Benoys dimensions?
I’d be more worried about someone from the forum checking the dimensions of my member?

When you say "concern" Who is actually concerned?

I also know people with season tickets on the front row and they wouldn't move for anything, so perhaps thats more of a personal thing?

Whilst I'm respectful of Lady P's concern regarding encroachment, as I was one of those standing on the Main Stand paddock terracing who had to quickly clamber onto the pitch to escape the fire in '68, and also a close witness to what unfolded at Hillsborough, I'm fiercely opposed to fencing or any other attempt to deny access in an emergency, notwithstanding that the contruction of modern-day stadia make a fire and/or crushing hugely unlikely at worst.

Obviously, the question of how to prevent the actions of a coked/pissed-up lone wolf, or an otherwise-joyful pitch-invasion of the type that the dragarse who attacked Billy Sharp was able to take advantage of still remains.

As I ended up dancing on the WFCG with Lewis McGugan following that game in 2008 („…and…CHELTENHAM HAVE SCORED!!“) I feel that I cannot say anything about encroachment onto the playing surface.

In my defence, I - like many others that day - was swept up in the emotion after three years of purgatory and suchlike, but that is no real excuse is it?

Mind you, I got a bigger bollocking when I turned up home, steaming drunk, the following morning, after having been on a massive celebratory session. Properly in the doghouse after that.

I think most of us have been on the pitch at one time or another when we weren't supposed to be. Unfortunately relatively recent incidents have made those in power, and those of us with a brain, realize that our naïve over-enthusiasm and unbridled joy can be spoiled by just one or two morons.

If using the shipping containers doesn't involve planning permission. Does anyone think the club might consider the idea for the PT stand. Would be cheaper but definetly uglier. It would boost the capacity but I can't see the corporate facilities being up to scratch.
As I understand it, the temporary nature of the structure may exempt it from planning regulations not necessarily the fact that shipping containers were used in its construction. That doesn't mean that the same modular form of construction couldn't be used for the Main Stand replacement as you suggest, indeed I could well imagine it being discussed. This method if it were utilised in conjuction with retaining the existing seating I think could be a much cheaper option than demolishing the lot and building a more traditional structure, it doesn't have to be old shipping containers either and could be made to look attractive as well. If the whole thing could be done over the course of one closed season then its happy days as far as I would be concerned.

If it's built on Eastcroft site then it's within the city boundaries and so the "City Ground" is still somewhat appropriate regardless of what sponsorship the new stadium has.

What's the precedent for new stadiums keeping the name of the old one? Has anyone done that before?

The new spurs stadium shares some of the footprint of white hart lane but they didn't retain the name.

The New City Ground would seem ok. Several other stadiums have been New-prefixed.

The “New City Ground” scans better with Mull of Kintyre too - not that I’d be happy singing it. I’m very happy to stay in the current City Ground thank you very much

A shiny new stadium is also likely to attract a highish-profile sponsor and so it could become The ________ City Ground?
