Though I like LEDs, they are by nature pretty directional, so to fill a larger area with direct light like floodlighting a football pitch needs a fair amount of work with the reflectors on the bulbs.

I've found they're much better for a lower-level lighting, such as getting some usb-type spotlights then firing them off the ceiling, but that clearly won't work at all for a football ground.

Fair play if they have switched the floodlights to LED though, they're a lot more energy efficient and don't have the same issue of the fluorescent bulb type things which initially replaced the incandescent ones, in that they don't have the flicker effect or anything else.

Anyone else think the new LED bulbs on the A Block floodlight pylon look really weird? They aren't grandeur enough for their polls and look lost.

Just me then.
Given that the lights will eventually be on top of the new structure, there's no option other than sticking them on the pylon. How aesthetically pleasing they look would never even occur to me.

What are the chances of any bricks being moved around the main stand area at the end of the season? It's all gone worrying quiet again.

If I recall correctly they can’t start on much until the boat club nearest the ground is fully relocated. Anyone know how that’s progressing?

That was one of the provisos to planning permission being finally granted, although I expect there's nothing to legally prevent the two parties coming to an agreement of some sort regarding time scales.

„Yes, nice boats you have there? I also like boats, big boats, like tankers, yes? It would be a shame if something happened to your boats. Like they caught fire. Or something, yes? Maybe you should move them. Quickly“.

Just speculation but i imagine a lot of the work is easy to do as a boat shed is just that. It's easy to build etc and planning should be straight forward.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, the challenge will be the site. It's hard to think of a good piece of land along the Trent within the Nottingham Reach where a facility could be located.

Once the site is acquired everything else should follow quite quickly.

I don't know whether it's still the plan or not (or even if it ever progressed far enough to become the plan). But at one point the discussion was that we'd redevelop one of the sheds behind the BC stand as a replacement. Which seems like it should be a last resort option for me - if the BC stand is ever to be redeveloped then putting a new boathouse there would only complicate matters.

Pretty sure they’ll have thought of that

There is a tunnel under it from a secret entry point under the PT stand which is containing increasing amounts of TNT as supplies can be sourced.

Eventually...

Is it not just easier to sit round a table with the boat club lot and just explain sensibly that pissing around on a river is for dicks?
Tbf I wouldn't go anywhere near the Trent. People have been exploding from both ends for years after going in there...

Anyone know if there were any timescales mentioned for starting the work when they announced that they got the go ahead from the Council?

It'll probably all be done in the same "couple of weeks" that players are injured for!😆

Once we're mathematically staying up they should kick people out the main stand for what's left of the season and get started, quicker we can start, quicker it can get built and get even more fans in.

Also am I right in saying once we start building the new stand we will be able to give out a lower away allocation even though the lowering of our capacity is self inflicted?

A reminder - we can't start properly until we've got an agreement regarding the boathouse.

Knocking down the Main Stand any sooner won't help with that - indeed, it'd give them more leverage as they'd know we needed to get a deal done straight away.
