The Relegation Dogfight 23/24

Can we rename this thread please as 'dogfight' feels a bit like we actually give a shit.

I was confident last season as well.

The knicker wetters on here weren't.

Turned out ok.

Let's wait & see eh lad.
Maybe lightning won't strike twice.

Forest have spent most of the last 2 decades in this league after all and are used to it.

It shouldn't have got this close after 34 games which raises more questions against his team than answers them.

The task isn't that difficult even now, but these guys just won't make it easy you can bet on that.

Between the rather distasteful way the club has treated it's fans this week, and it's unprofessional approach to tackling the ref decisions (and likely consequential anti-Forest bias which will now continue in droves), I think we're down tbh. There's just too much negativity around at the mo, mostly self-created.

The only thing which will change that is other teams failing beyond comprehension, which is possible I suppose.

Do you know what?

It doesn't take a huge leap of faith to make the case that we've already got enough points.

That's how shit this year's competion is down at the bottom. Which makes it unforgivable how difficult these chumps are making survival appearing to be.

City are in a title race. That game will be 💯 fixed.

Chelsea can still make Europe. That game will no doubt be fixed.

Luckily the Burnley and S.United games are opportunities where VAR shouldn’t go against us e.g. the Fulham game.

The players quite rightly, looked like the world was against them. They need to get passed that.

Such a shame that the EPL (for the non-Illuminati) is ruined by VAR. Even boxing is less corrupt…

I still think we'll be OK by virtue of Luton being shite and weirdly Burnley not being shite but having left things too late

Sheffield United are obviously bobbins

It will depend on whether those who decide such things want City to win the league or want them out of the way so that Liverpool can win it in Klopp's last season.

There does seems to be a narrative that the EPL and EFL screenwriters are trying to create. It's no coincidence that in the USA they, too, call each series of dramas a 'season.'

„Everything will be alright in the end. If its not alright, its not the end“.

John Winston Lennon.
That's right up there with 'everything happens for a reason' and 'the lord moves in mysterious ways' in terms of the insensitive bullshit spouted by people who engage their mouths before their brains.

Well, Lennon won’t be doing much of that anymore, will he?

I thought before the Wolves game that it was the most winnable game left (along with Sheffield
United).
Sadly,we failed to beat Wolves but I still think IF we win at Bramall Lane we have a realistic
and fairly good chance of survival.
I reckon it’s still all to play for (despite yesterday’s disappointment) and we are in for a
s**t or bust situation in Sheffield.

Beat Sheff Utd and Burnley to stay up.

No room for error.

Serious consideration as to whether Nuno should lead the team into those games need to be had. I don't advocate the possibility lightly, but the reality is the team currently is all over the place and lacks any sort of fight. We are on course to whimper our way to a couple more points. But, Sheff Utd and Burnley are crap teams, so just having a small amount of fight in us for those games should see us win them (assuming VAR doesn't step in). If there's the potential for a motivator to step in temporarily then it might, just might, be worth the roll of the dice.

My thoughts too. Nothing about Nuno I've seen suggests he has the passion necessary to energize and motivate this squad to accomplish the increasingly difficult job that has to be done. Having said that, who would be a suitable alternative capable of making that much of an impact in such a short time? Still, even Marinakis isn't erratic enough to change managers at this stage, is he?
