I couldn't see a thread for this year but really enjoyed the one from last year for keeping an eye on other teams results etc!

Going to a dogfight as they say, to the end!

Who do you guys see getting pulled in? Are Sheff Utd gone? Will Nuno pull us away and we will watch with our deckchairs out?

I’d say Burnley and S.United for sure.

If Bournemouth lose Solanke they’d drop back into it. Same for Palace (players likely sold). Luton (small squad). Brentford are slipping.

I think Everton, Fulham, Wolves and us will be fine.

Sheffield United are pretty much nailed on to go down from here, and I can't see Burnley beating the drop unless Kompany acquiesces and changes their style (which he won't)

So I think we're looking at one of us, Everton, Palace and Brentford for the final spot

Sheffield United are absolutely wank and will finish rock bottom. Wouldn't be surprised if they fail to get 20 points this season.

Burnley aren't much better and will probably finish 2nd bottom. Not quite in 'doomed' territory yet, but not far off.

Wolves and Bournemouth will be fine. Probably only need about 9-10 more points this season to stay up. Everton also have enough about them to pull away despite the deductions.

Other than that, it looks like a five way tussle between ourselves, Luton, Palace, Brentford and maybe Fulham. I think the January window will be key again; a few good additions like last year (Felipe, Danilo and Navas) will help us over the line IMO.

Think i'd agree with most of this,

Luton worry me just because they have a good amount of winnable home games. Think Fulham will be fine personally, Palace and Brentford are interesting ones.

For ourselves, by playing our tough away games in the first half of the season, has the effect of having tougher home games in the second half. What we do have is a lot of winnable away games. We simply have to improve away or we will be in trouble, fortunately following our superb win at Newcastle, the signs are encouraging.

Can't see Sheffield United managing to be better than three other teams so they'll go. Burnley probably will too as they just play such naive football, by this stage you'd have thought Kompany might shelve his principles a bit for points as they clearly have talent but it doesn't seem likely.

Luton have plenty of fight but are low on quality, this is a long old season and I think depth might be an issue as the seasons goes on.

Brentford are in free fall at the moment but will get Toney back soon who makes a big difference to them so it would be a surprise to see them dragged into it.

Palace probably most likely to be dragged into it along with us but they do have match-winners in their side so always seem to get just enough points to never feel too threatened by the drop.

It's probably between the current bottom three and us, unfortunately.

Sheffield United already gone for me. Complete lack of quality and you're asking them to get 25 odd points from their remaining games. Won't happen. They'll finish on 20 points max.

Burnley are in a similar boat but I have thought they might find some form but longer the season goes on and they look open defensively and limp going forward then you just feel they're heading in the same way. 25-30 points I reckon.

Luton are a strange one, probably not as good as Burnley on paper but more battle hardened and having an enormous striker to play into is helping them pick up points. This next month determines their fate in my opinion with games against Newcastle, Sheff Utd and Burnley. If they can two wins from those then they've got a platform to survive. That being said, I still think they'll fall short, points total 27-32.

Palace, Brentford, Everton and Fulham are much of a muchness to me. They all lack the quality to get to mid table but there's enough experience in their squads and management to not get sucked into a relegation battle. If any of them were to it would probably be Palace.

Wolves and Bournemouth already safe for me.

Which just leaves Forest... If we put in performances like we have last four games we will be absolutely fine in my opinion. I'm not sure we'll break 40 points but probably close, and I think that will give us plenty of breathing room coming towards the end of the season.

I can't see Toney playing for Brentford again, that **** will go on strike to get his move if he needs to and Mbuemo is away (I assume) with Cameroon gor the AFCON. They could struggle.🤞
We'll be reet though!

it goes to show yet again just how shit Derby were in 07/08. Shef Utd and Burnley already look adrift, but have already scrapped their way to 11 points (Shef Utd will likely get there by end of Jan).

You would think we'll see one or both of them on this list by the end of the season, but will be interesting to think whereabouts:

6 more wins will be enough - got to be doable given we’ve got a lot of the bottom half still to play in second half of the season

A decent goalkeeper in January and I think we won’t be in much trouble. No GK improvement and I still think we will be okay but it’ll be more of a scrap.

Things change pretty quickly in this league based on form. We saw last year two good months over the year pretty much kept us up.

It’s quite hard to predict how good or bad we actually are, I have genuinely no idea week to week but I do think we have more quality than those around us & especially the bottom 3.

Gives a pictorial representation of the results so far, only played 2 of the current bottom 8 away from home, only 2 of the top 8 at home.

If we can replicate performance like Newcastle away, there will be plenty on chances to pick up wins on the road. I am hoping we can look more threatening at home too and a better killer instinct after taking the lead.

After 19 games last season, only one of the then bottom 3 went down, and even as high up as 13th and 14th ended up falling through the trap door. The bottom 2 are only 1 win behind last year's. Leeds were looking safe on 21 points so yes even as far up as Fulham should be concerened, I think Luton have enough battle to get them out of trouble this year which means somene has to take their place. Hopefully we have turned a corner, though its easy to get swept up in a couple of results and we are going to suffer from missing players during the ACON (and injured players coming back from the ACON)

AFCON is a slight concern but, that aside, if we carry on as we have progressed in the last few games then there‘s a sensible argument to say we could win another 5 at home and 4 away, job done.

Non-AFCON team = “keeper”; Montiel, Felipe, Murillo, WillIams; Yates, Danilo; Elanga, MGW, CHO; Wood so not too shabby. Subs include Dominguez, a load of defenders and keepers but then not much else I can think of so need luck (not our strong point) with injuries and suspensions.

Sheff U, Burnley and Brentford to go down, and good riddance.

Sheffield Utd are a different team since they got rid of that useless clown of a manager. Did you see them against Villa? They looked very solid. Obviously difficult to see them getting 26 points from the remaining 19 games, of course. Had they held on to leads to beat both Villa and Luton it would have been different. But they didn't. Hahahahahaha bye!

we have enough players in the squad to cover AFCON, not to mention whoever is coming in january. costa rica is not in the afcon so they could easily promote brandon up

We'll be fine, I don't even think of us as being in the dogfight.

It'll be Sheffield, Burnley and one from Luton and Brentford. We'll be fine, Everton are good this season and Palace will hire Cooper soon so they'll edge away too.

Is that our greatest chance for points? We saw last season how well we did against the big teams at home with the extra atmosphere it creates, whereas when a team comes to the City Ground and sits in we can't break them down? (Not seen this yet under Nuno however).

Similarly, playing the lesser teams away - does that benefit our counter attack now we're not scared to have a go and away wins are now a realistic expectation?

Luton remind me of us last season unfortunately as scrappers and I think they'll survive, Sheffield United are down. Everyone says Kompany should change his style, but maybe Burnley are happy to stick to it, bank the Prem money and invest the season after they inevitably win the league again sticking to a philosophy that is pleasing and difficult when you're not a top 6 team, but is a long-term vision and grow together with a rookie manager.

I'd love Brentford to go down after all their condescending bollocks throughout the years.

I think the better take from that image is that we're competitive with the teams around us even during a time period where we were trying to evolve our style, we were in poor form and there was constant speculation about the longevity of the manager.

Fulham and Everton were shitshows that shouldn't be replicated but then you've got Bournemouth where we get done by a ref, better team Vs Luton, Palace, Burnley, Wolves and Sheff Utd.

Repeat the better performances from that list in the corresponding fixtures and don't be so crap against Everton and Fulham again and we might get the points we need to stay up from those games only.
