That's surely at odds with the claim that the squad's too big, leading to constant chopping and changing. OK, in an ideal world we'd have sold someone who's been less effective than Mangala, but (a) you don't choose who another club wants to buy and (b) arguably our two best performances of the season didn't feature Mangala. The reasoning was fairly sound imo.
The Akpom bid shows we didn't need the amount we got for Mangala, no reason we could sold worse for less.

And if anything it backs up the squad situation. Don't sign Vlack for 8m, don't sign Dennis for 15m etc. and you get to keep Managala AND have a smaller squad.

But ultimately it was Nuno who didn't play and OK'd the sale of arguably the best play of the season up until that point, as opposed to pushing for someone else to be sold.

But he was bought in precisely to change a side that was struggling into one that wasn't.

Otherwise what was the point of the change? Or even saying a change was required?

It's amazing how often we completely turn on it's head the success/failure criteria for a new manager and hold them to a lesser standard. Baffling.

It amazes me how you can expect such a change around in the 10 League games Nuno has been in charge - I believe you have to give him until the end of the season to start to judge Nuno. That is just my take I think Managers need to be given time.

No they 100% did dude. I thought you were just talking about Marinakis, but people at the club claimed that we could...

Murillo told The Telegraph: “The coach has shown faith in me and I want to repay him with my personality on the pitch.

“We have a quality team that can achieve a lot. It’s still very early in the season and if we click, and stay united, we can even compete for European competition.”

A lot of if's in there, but between the owner "demanding success" and statements like the above, I don't think you can blame fans for seeing Europe as a standard being talked about as an achievable goal at the club.
Fair enough. The difference is between aspiration and expectation though in my eyes.

I suppose the trouble is Marinakis doesn’t seem to know the difference. Or doesn’t appear to anyway.

After ast night it feels like three points to us, rather than two other teams playing! Extraordinary game with, I'm sure most of us and the rest of the football world, ready to write off Forest.

Now we have a chance of putting daylight between us and Luton, and pressure on the others around the bottom, with games beginning to run out.

A chance we have to take. Let's hope Nuno shows the nous of Newcastle and the home Man U game rather than the recent bizarre experiments.

I don't overlook it, I just think galvanizing a team out of the PL for quarter of a century and bottom of the Championship to promotion intra-season without any real investment in an era of parachute payments eclipses what Frank achieved, as good as his achievements were.

I think what Cooper did was a modern-miracle, goes under-reported because it was the Championship rather than PL so no-one outside these parts cares, but it was a feat with no precedence - the highest place finish a team bottom of Champ after GW7 in history was 14th - and it's a relegation-to-promotion feat which just won't get repeated in the Championship for as long as most of us live. Every bit the miracle that Leicester winning the PL was.

Their last three wins have put them right back in it after being dump for about 6/7 games before that and at a very real risk of being dragged in to the bottom three scrap. But it’s a second season in a row where there’s now a good chance they could do a Forest.

Yes, this is the approach. Only sign players wo will be a success, and don't sign players who won't.

Can't believe no one ever thought about that plan, let alone actually implemented it.

I'd settle for us starting to scout them properly for now tbh. No one on God's earth ever watched Vlach play and thought "yeah, he's worth 8m!"

Dennis made so much sense on paper. Vlach less so but we at least tried to hedge the bet on Turner. The Mangala sale also made a lot of sense at the time and if we stay up, still does make a lot of sense.

It’s easy to pick apart decisions in hindsight.

That's a joke right?

Yes 100 per cent a joke to ask for a manager to be given time when he come in to coach a struggling team that has won once in 13 games.

I mean that team he took over looked like world beaters did they not in that fine away display at Fulham prior to Coopers departure.

Scout those players thoroughly, make sure you aren't relying on "on paper" logic.

It’s definitely 100% a joke expecting our owner to have patience, yes.

The post I responded to was never about the owner it was about Nuno and why I felt he should be given time before being judged.

Personally I will judge Nuno at the end of the season I think it's hard for any manger to come into a team that's struggled all season.

It's a collective failure and if we go down Nuno will be apart of that but hopefully we stay up.

No mention of EM.

I know that's a joke... but clearly not going to be the case. He may well be shite but he is the first choice keeper for the country our owner and his son are from.

They will have seen him play for Greece on several occasions but as we know international football is totally different.

So whilst you thought Cooper should be sacked because he was taking us towards relegation you'd be ok with us being relegated under Nuno because we need to give him time?

Note - I'm not calling for Nuno to go, I believe he'll keep us up.
It's the dual standards I'm aghast at.

The quotation was in order to make a point related to the content of the post and expand the discussion. It's a fairly common technique. Quoting isn't just used to agree or disagree. No need to feel attacked.

He also only cost £4m rising to £8m with add-ons, that seem unlikely to be triggered now I would have thought.

But pointing this out would be splitting hairs, and £4m is still too much to pay anyway.

Let’s see what happens in the summer.

I do not think anyone on here is okay with us being relegated that's a big leap to make based on me suggesting we give Nuno time before we judge him - he has had 10 league games that's all.

Suggesting any of us Forest fans are okay with us going down is a bizarre take to me and pretty disrespectful.

You posts come across as very quick and eager to blame Nuno for our situation - we find ourselves where we are because of a collective failure of EM Cooper and the Players - if the worse happens then Nuno will have played his part.

Hopefully Nuno keeps us up - people just seem very quick to bring Cooper up but that will not help us stay up Cooper is now the past it seems as if people are still struggling to let Cooper go.
