The Relegation Dogfight 23/24

Can that ‘first half versus Fulham’ version of Forest find itself? If it can, who knows.

Thats as good as i've seen us. And it was a team who attacked with intent but not with incredible ability in comparison to ours.

Any team who sits deep, Everton/Palace etc we don't have the craft. Burnley will go for it, Sheff Utd too i'd imagine, City will murder us if they play the way they're playing right now against Brighton and Chelsea god knows.

Maybe that version will be allowed to see the light of day after Sunday, its a nice flicker of hope to know that with the right situation that team is there waiting to come out..

Wolves were torn to bits last night against Bournemouth and somehow kept it down to 1-0, they're riddled with injuries (always seem to be actually) and are exactly the type of team that Luton can overwhelm physically.

Thats the one thing i've been saying about Luton since the opening couple of games, they know exactly what they are capable of and what they're not. They throw players forward in numbers and can catch teams like Wolves out. Funny enough it was us who were caught out when Edwards emptied the bench and gave Barkley his debut. Yes Aurier, Worrall etc but they bloody had us from the moment those subs happened.

And since then thats how they've made a game of it, Brentford are a cute unit that has the physical, tactical and technical qualities needed to deal with Lutons all action style and then smash them when they have their chances.

My worry is that Luton know what they're doing, i still couldnt't tell you exactly what we're trying to do. Last season with the box midfield counter end of season special i knew exactly what our goal was. Now its, lets play football lads yet we can't break a team down nor keep clean sheets. Thats before we even talk about set pieces. And Nuno doesn't seem to have an interest in going to a back 3, Its shite or bust.
I’d worry more if Wolves had won last night..

Relegation would be so frustrating.

This season we've had: constant giving away points from winning positions, abysmal set piece defending, awful ref decisions, points deduction.
Take one of those factors away/make it a bit less bad, and we'd be staying up comfortably.

The thing that would really annoy me is Forest somehow contriving to get relegated despite Sheffield United, Burnley and Luton Town being the shittest collective of promoted teams in living Premier League memory

'The Forest way'

You know what Maxi I have to concede you were dead right about the whole thirty points survival thing

The season isn't over yet mate, I'm actually less confident now that 30 will be enough than I was earlier in the season. A surprise couple of wins isn't out of the question for them.

I think we'll win at least 2 out of our last 3. 7-9 points for us.

Unfortunately I don't think there's any way Everton don't beat Sheff Utd at home, so that's them too far away.

But Luton to win 3 out of 4? No chance.

We're staying up.
I really hope you are right, Psycho. I see us getting 4 points but that still being enough

I see Burnley staying up, there’s absolutely no way we’re beating them away from home on the last day..
I think Burnley have got it all to do-with games to come against Manchester United,Newcastle
and Tottenham (they also have a poor goal difference).
There’s a chance of a result at Turf Moor on the last day if we need it.

Two home wins v Everton and Fulham, and at least one point away from home.
So they currently have remaining

today - Wolves away
3rd May - Everton home
11th May - W Ham away
19th May - Fulham home

So far Luton have picked up 25 points from 34 games which is an average of 0.74 ppg

The reverse matches were
Wolves 1-1
Everton lost 2-1
W Ham lost 2-1
Fulham lost 1-0

They have so far won 4 and drawn 3 at home, away they have won 2 and drawn 4

So in 17 home games where they have won 4, suddenly they will end winning 6 from 19, and get at least one draw away from home where they usually lose?

And we're also expecting them to not lose 3 matches where they lost all but one of the reverse fixtures?

Them picking up 7 points means they largely have to go unbeaten for the remainder of the season where so far they have managed this once with 2 draws and a win, and once won 2 together, and then another 2 match unbeaten streak with a draw and a win. In every other case where they've picked up a point they've lost the match.

Luton might sneak a win somewhere but there's really no chance of them suddenly winning 3 out of the last 4. That's the form of a title-chaser ffs.

If we could win just 1 game (or draw 3) it makes things really tough for Luton.

Yep, there's no chance of them winning three from four...

Have to admit had felt that we were alright but have now a feeling of dread, wolves have about 10 players fit.

I think if we go into the bottom 3 we won't get out of it either.

My mood may well be dampened by the fact I've had a speeding ticket come through today and Derby have gone one up!
