Agreed, but would rather not rely on teams not making 30 points for us to stay up, we're better than that and can sort our own problems out. Agree with your last sentence therefore.
Totally, and but for one week after the deduction it's always been in our hands.

I know this season wasn't supposed to be about 'just' staying up, but we've done enough throughout the season to show we can do that. Just need to get it over the line...

What I wouldn't give for a Fulham style shock result at Slurs this weekend. Unlikely I think, but they stuttered last time out v West Ham. I'm hoping Nuno's time there comes back to haunt them...

We massively cocked up the goalkeeper situation. I'd argue we'd be pretty much safe by now had Sels been in sticks from the beginning.

It's made such a difference.
I agree - think Cooper might still be in a job had we got that recruitment right (or had Turner taken his big chance is another way to look at it).

If I've given up on you ten or so games in then there's something gone badly wrong.

Tell you what I really don't want - some narrative eventually creeping in that we only stayed up due to everton's points deduction.

Need to finish the job and get as much of a lift from them (and the rest below us) as possible.
I'll take staying up whatever it takes.

Everton got away with it last season and it's caught up with them with the double hit this time around.

I just don't want to go to Burnley needing a result.

Nope, won’t happen, if you are discounting their points deducted you have to get rid of ours too and we’d be well clear of Luton if that were the case!

I really don't care how we stay up.

However, if any club gets relegated as a result of a points deduction I can see legal action being taken by those clubs. And if any club gets relegated and they believe another club is staying up but has not had the appropriate punishment applied I can see legal action being taken by those clubs also. It's an absolute mess.

Luton winless in 10 proving that they are in fact shit.

Brentford are the luckiest club in the league, if us and Everton didn’t have a points deduction they would be right in the shit.

We will finish 16th at worse above the three promoted teams and Everton.

Don't think Brentford are any luckier than we are. We'll only stay up because bottom three are the worst they've ever been. We'd have been relegated last season if we got points deducted then.

Been saying this for ages

There seemed to be a consensus for a while that they were a plucky, hard to break down side fighting for their lives and that that would somehow see them stay up at our expense. They often go ahead in games and people get worried but almost always end up either drawing or, usually, losing

The fact is they are shit and are only third from bottom because somehow there are two teams in the league even shitter than they are

It was a mini decent run they had over the turn of the year. 3 wins in 5 I think. Broke them away from the other 2 at the bottom. Not won since though. So annoyed with that late goal against us.

Next match v Bournemouth is massive for them.

This just shows how ridiculous FFP is, Luton have not gone on a spending spree and are down to the bare bones of players. Yes they have been plucky, but I said about 12 games ago that their bubble will burst and so it seems that I was right.
They’ve been scared to death to spend much of their prize for winning promotion and that has cost them dearly and I reckon that they are destined to go back down.

The one thing you can give them is they've fought a lot harder than Sheff Utd and Burnley and really maximised their returns on what they can do well (set-pieces mainly).
Oh aye, they have

The point I'm making is all of that fight rarely translates into actual results, so we really shouldn't be worried about them picking up more points than us

Without our points deduction we'd be seven points clear of them and pretty much home free

I don't think it's just FFP. Luton's owner David Wilkinson only has a net worth of £25.74million. The next lowest net worth in the Premier League owners table is Abdullah bin Musaid Al Saud of Sheff Utd with £158million. (Disclaimer, Burnley's Alan Pace's wealth is a complete mystery).
Quite simply, Wilkinson can't bankroll the club, and as a result, Luton can pretty much only spend what they've earned.

I realise this is partly due to central midfield being a bit thin on options but the “Ross Barkley for England” calls are particularly laughable. He’s done well for them it’s true, but only relative to expectations.

Yeah it’s often forgotten that the £105m losses thing depends on the owners pumping in £30m every season. Otherwise I think the losses are capped at £15m over three years I think.

Still, Luton have brought in hardly anyone since promotion so must surely make a decent profit this season? Surely? Something badly wrong if not.

Also I think Luton still have plenty of players (25+ listed wherever I’ve looked). So think the idea they have a tiny squad is a bit of a myth. Probably just not of a particularly good standard when you get down the list.

Tiny stadium, commercial revenue that's more limited than ours, even players on Championship contracts will stretch their revenue and they haven't made any big sales. Their profits will be limited.

Actually I’ve done a bit of research and it turns out Luton have brought in FIFTEEN players this season. Ok 15 is half of 30, but I seem to remember the pearls starting to be clutched when we got up to 20 last summer.

Sure but all that stuff is a fraction of what you get from TV/Prize money (for Luton anyway). £100m+ for every single team.
