I was one of the people to suggest this in the survet last season but 99 is a bit steep  I was thinking entry on a per-game basis

It was quite good when we got to sample it last season, you get to see the early match and beer is actually served in a glass.

They have a buffet too but I don't know if that entitles you to it or not.

echo Hockley's comment went in with him, his wife to be and Spaceman last year for the trail. Same crap beer you get elsewhere in the ground for the same price as other areas of the ground but you do get it in a glass at least.

They bring the VIP guest in for a quick 5 min interview and to read the team sheet out and there's a mini carvery on that you can pay extra for if your feeling hungry.

This was my experience of it too. I went with the season before last, for the burnley game (i think it was the season before last, we beat them 2-0 or 2-1 with Mcgoldrick scoring) as the mrs got cheap tickets through work (i think it was £20).

It wasnt very good.

Rip off! Best bit about the pre-match we did a while ago was the host, Kenny Burns is a natural for that job. :D

How many matches a season? 30?

I guess at about £3 a game it's not too bad if you don't want to be in a busy local bar.

Ive been in a few times with a mate whos a ref, wank watching the game through glass (not bad on a shitty winter Tuesday night against some nobodys (like Derby) in League Cup though lol) but the bar bit is loads better than its being made out, pints are a hundred times better than in ground, and in glass, and you can get served in under 15 minutes, foods average but world class compared with the grounds offerings, the place is really nice with loads of massive iconic prints and stuff and u usually get a few old stars (Kenny always) and any players who arent featured - Ive met most of Billys squad in there at some point. You get a programme too.

All that said, I never had to pay to go and cannot believe its £99, ridiculous.

I can understand the response of many, that £99 is a bit steep, and granted it's a significant outlay on top of your season ticket. However any suggestion that they should just 'open it up' is a little misguided. It's still a corporate area for which you can buy tickets to watch the match in the Castle Club.

What they are effectively saying is that the take up on that at present is not huge and therefore the bar area is far from busy pre and post match so why not make it open to a few more people. If you make it simple 'walk up' without any sort of membership it creates both a logistical nightmare and an inevitable kick off from those that have paid for the more expensive packages to both drink and watch the game from the Castle Club when 'the general public' can just waltz in for free and swamp the bar. I suspect the number of £99 memberships is limited so they can keep a lid on numbers.

It's not for everyone, granted, but the last thing you want to be doing is pissing off the corporate spenders, especially if PL football may not be too many years away, bringing with it massively lucrative options on that front.

I'm not saying i'd pay it, or that it's good value but no sizeable club is going to open up their larger corporate areas to all and sundry on match day, never going to happen.

Saw you say something similar on twitter Elliot and your bang on. £99 over the saeson isnt that bad really either but its not something I would defintely want to do every game so would be better if they did a per game things or something less 'committal'

Would like to see them sort something out for halftime more than the before and after - more staff and a scrub down (for the staff as well as the bar(lol@bar)

I'm the same. I wouldn't pay £99 when a lot of games I will be driving anyway and others I may have other plans or just want to get into SouthBank or back into town. Can sometimes sneak into Legends thanks to some friends who have relatives working at the club but that's never a given and although it's convenient it's not exactly the most atmospheric of places. But for some who maybe live close, have a couple of pints before and after every game and hate the busy nature of SouthBank / Amici etc it might be £99 well spent.

The other thing worth noting, I feel, is that the matchday catering on the concourses could be a lot better in terms of speed & quality of service. The inability of football clubs to put into effect simple queuing systems bewilders me. They have probably lost quite a lot of £ over the years through people much like myself taking one look at the scrum to get to any of the food/drink outlets and thinking 'no thanks'.

It often strikes me that when we visit other grounds, their facilities are better than ours. Smaller queues, better bogs etc.
As far as the Diner is concerned, I am disappointed it doesn't seem to open in the evenings any more during the week. Fine dining it wasn't but when it used to be open, it was an alternative for a certain type of food - great views over the Trent on a summer's evening. The KEY to our success in the future is to do more commercially; an investment in the Diner and a good chef may entice people to use it and make us more money.

Definitely agree with this. It has potential as both somewhere to eat & watch football as well as potentially live music as well.

Im a foodie and would absolutely LOVE to eat some decent grub with that awesome view at my beloved football clubs ground. I agree that things like this are imperative not only for our FFP future but also for making us look like were not still in 1987 to potential players of the next level up (cos thats where we are going ) - the gournd needs a good clean, the facilites need a complete revamp (a-la-clubshop) and we need to start making money on other days than matchdays. Did I hear right that Froch mentioned having a fight there? this kind of thing would be epic.

I take your points you put after this post but the ones in this are pretty much null and void in this thread because with this £99 pass you get kicked out 10 mins before KO and can't return until after the final whistle so even if you pay the money you'll still have to join the usual scrum at the concourse bar if you want a half time pint.

The pint of IPA I had when I went in was horrendous. Nothing like you get in a Green King pub and just as bad as it is from the bar under the main stand.

Think we must have sh*t out the day we went too. No players or Kenny. Harry Bassett was the matchday guest but he got brought into the Pitch just as we were about to leave to get to our seats (15 mins before KO). Maybe it was just a bad day at the office for the place?

Froch has been trying to get a fight at the CG for years - maybe happening after the Bute fight?

POssibly mate Ive been about a dozen times with the ref. When I wrote that first buit I didnt realise about the halftime thing but I did post a bit later about that saying I would prefer that the half time in ground was sorted out over this, our facilities and staffing in the ground is horrendous.

I think that Froch will fight at the Arena in November (either 3rd or 10th) most probably against Kelly Pavlik. He's then tied into a rematch with Bute in Montreal, which would likely be March time.

Assuming Froch wins these two fights (which is by no means a given, the Bell Center in Montreal is a big arena and the atmosphere will be exactly like it was in Nottingham but reversed and with twice as many fans - intimidating to say the least) then it would be set up for a fight with Kessler at the City Ground in the Summer of 2013, when there would be no clash with Forest.

I have to say that it'd be a huge disappointment if Froch doesn't get to put on a show at the City Ground before retiring. He's been everything a hometown hero should be in recent years and seeing him destroy Bute with the Forest emblem proudly stitched into his shorts was something to behold. He's never shirked a fight and he's constantly fought the very best he could find. He's the epitome of a warrior and a great advert for the manifestation of hard work as ultimate success.

A big showdown at the CG is what he deserves. I would love to say I could see him righting two wrongs and taking out Ward as well but I just can't see it, Ward is just too good I think although there is something that tells me that Carl being Carl there would be no way he would turn it down if the opportunity arose, especially if it was in his home town.
