Not the best of games at Basford v Ilkeston but a vital three points for the visitors.

Basford pushed towards the end and could have snatched a point with the very last action of the game.

Corner whipped in and the keeper who’d come up headed just wide!

Yeah the manager has left and the Chairman has also said he’s stepping down.

I don’t know about afterwards, me and the old man left as soon as the whistle went.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there was trouble though, plenty of ale had been supped and Ilkeston fans probably made up for about half the attendance.

It kicked off in a pub after the game, I can confirm a hell of a lot of ale was supped pre match. I saw a fair few about 6 pints deep by half 2

There's a video doing the rounds of about 20 lads having a rumble right outside the Basford ground gates.

Unbelievable to think how far Basford have come, I was playing against them on a Saturday afternoon about 12 years ago in the Notts Senior League Prem.

Looks as if they still have replays in the Qualifying rounds of the FA Cup. The Linnets drew with Aveley on Saturday and replay on Monday.

They still have replays in real football,VP-it’s seemingly rather too much for the pampered pussies in the top 2 divisions to cope with these days.

I don’t know, when I read the name „Rudy Funk“, I expected him to look a bit like George Clinton?

Hucknall v Ashby Ivanhoe tonight.

I’m surprised it’s on with all the rain we’ve had, but it’s passed an inspection.

Hopefully I’ll see a few goals - Hucknall let in another 6 at the weekend and have lost every league game since an opening day draw.

Hucknall 2-1 Ashby Ivanhoe

Hucknall with their first league win of the season and thoroughly deserved.

2-0 at half time with two lovely goals and some great football played.

Ashby pulled one back from the spot on 73, Hucknall then had a man sent off for a desperate last man foul, which to be fair probably saved a goal.

Great determination to hold on at the end.

My son plays for Newark Town and they’ve just lost on penalties to Lincoln United in the Vase Trophy.

He’ll be absolutely gutted but I’m so proud.

The beauty of non-league football.

“There’s always next year”

A phrase we’d here regularly in the higher levels, back in the day when managers would be at a club for five years without pressure.

Ilkeston 1-1 Macclesfield

Not the greatest game, but ‘Ilson’ rescued a point after Macclesfield had a bloke sent off for two bookings, the first of which was for mouthing off at the ref.

Robbie Savage now appears to be Assistant Manager at Macc, appearing a couple of times to be met with a few chants of “Robbie Savage is a wanker”

Good crowd. 993 with plenty from Macclesfield on a Tuesday night.

It is disgraceful how stuff like this continues to happen, whilst at the other end of the pyramid, certain clubs are wallowing in cash that is readily accepted from all sorts of despots.

Worst part it he only recently took over from a guy Scunthorpe fans worked tirelessly to get rid off as he was trying to sell off the ground for property.

This new guys first order of business was to advertise the CEO position (bizarre in itself) & then one of the requirements is you had to pay to be the CEO.
