The rules are:

i. They must be realistic in the price range, available and a player willing to come to Forest.

ii. You have £3m to spend and can also bring in two loans (i.e 2 loans with 2 others costing around 3m).

iii. Must have never played for or have any association with Steve McClaren or Steve Cotterill.

He is, but they would be due conpensation so he wouldn't really be free.

We can rebuild a defence without spending loads this year.

Paul Scharner, Ryan Nelsen, Alex Bruce, Aidy White, Zak Whitbread and Danny Gabbidon are all out of contract.

Robinson we could probably get on loan and Hoyte is a Right Back and is out of contract.

I'm sure he played CB at times last season. Seems to be pretty versatile between the two positions. Definitely worth a shout if he's available on a free.
