The Luton Marker

We drew with a Luton side there for the taking early this year mid/late October. A game where we lead the match, and the manager made defensive changes which ultimately cost us the game. Following that result we sat 15th in the league.

Fast forward 5 months and 20 league games, and the same thing happens, we lead a poor Luton side there for the taking and surrender that lead after making defensive changes. We now sit 17th in the league.

I wouldn't exactly call it a "carbon copy", but I think it serves as a good indicator of how little we've moved forward in that time.

Which is pretty crazy when you consider that a lot of changes have been made in that time too. We've changed manager, changed coaching staff, bought in a set piece specialist (who we don't use), developed players such as Origi and CHO, signed more players such as Sels and Reyna, got back in bed with Mendes etc. etc.

So why do you thing so much as changed, yet our progress has been so little (if any at all)?

My views are known, but I'd be interested to get other people's takes on it.

Cooper f**ked up and Nuno was let down by the players, the board, the weather, the fans, Big Donna, Santa, God, Allah, Hercules, Worrall, definitely Joe Worrall, Costa Coffee, Raymondo from the nice Spoons in town, NCC, WWF, Barry White, 2 of The Wailers (PeterTosh was busy elsewhere), Barry off Eastenders...............

The changes against Luton at home weren’t exactly defensive changes they were like for like that didn’t really need to be made And we where 2-0 up with the manager presuming the game was won. The changes yesterday where not exactly unusual, many teams when defending a 1 goal lead, try to shut up shop and bring on an extra defender, Luton are very good at their ground so it was always going to be difficult to hang on to a slender lead. Our away record has been awful since promotion, so win home draw away is what you aim for. In both games we missed good chances which woul have meant a late goal didn’t matter.

No they are not, they have got 12 points from a possible 45 at home, so they very much were there for the taking. That includes defeats to Sheffield United and Burnley at home.

Fair point in regards of actual results, but there is an assumption that are difficult to beat at home, not just by me, but they have shown to put up great fights against most teams as demonstrated in there performances. They are a better home team than we are an away team.

Leave Big Donna alone. She's got boyfriend trouble and doesn't need you having a go at her.

The good news is that in my Relegation Run in I predicted yesterday's draw, so even my own end of season table prediction has us avoiding relegation.
I really have no faith in my own forecasts though!
How's your hangover?
