Aye...it meant alot to us and many other teams back in those days when it was a proper trophy before the PL and the big six f**ked everything up.

If you're including "Sky" in "PL", the yes, you absolutely have a point, because of the narrative they have helped create, the League Cup may as well be an inconvenience for PL sides, especially the big six.

...I would still love to win one of those Tin Pot trophies though, personally.

Same here Jack, same here.

When I was commenting on that Klopp picture I said 'tin pot' because of the likes of Klopp, Liverpool and Co, that's how they see it. It was a very much tongue in cheek pi55 take comment.

Yup, it meant a lot to every team back then - it was a rare chance to play at Wembley (before there were play-offs and the ridiculous hosting of FA Cup semi-finals there) and the winners qualified for Europe (before the days of the top 7 or 8 all qualifying). I remember how much it bothered Liverpool when we beat them in the 1978 League Cup Final. They were really annoyed that little old Forest (well, Forest reserves, given we were without four or five injured and cup-tied players) had beaten their first team. It wasn’t only because of the controversial penalty but also because they had never won it before. The fact they won it four years in a row a few years later shows it meant something to them. Yet another thing that ‘progress’ has ruined.

Well said Ian, 100% spot on.
