LTLF MORON
I went to Maine Road 1984 , City v Pompey 2-2, a young Neil Webb played for Pompey, I was more interested watching it kick off in the Kippax, another proper ground.
To be fair I haven't been to VP since 96, Des Little scored an injury time equaliserVilla was meh for me. Up in the gods in the corner, crap view, can't get an atmosphere going.
Quite enjoyed Spurs but then that's back to being behind the goal.
I think I just like being behind the goal.
I went to that one too, Eddie. A friend from work is a Villa fan and we had lunch at his parents’ place then sat in the tier above the away end, as that was where he’d been advised it was ok to take a well-behaved opposition fan. I stood up silently and without applauding when they took the lead, celebrated in my head when Andy Townsend was sent off and when Des Lyttle equalised down below us I was restrained enough to just give my friend a little dig in the ribs. I might as well have got up and celebrated as all around the stand about a hundred Reds were on their feet cheering. I remember Pat Murphy sounding really disappointed about it on Radio 5 afterwards…To be fair I haven't been to VP since 96, Des Little scored an injury time equaliser
I might go this season though
„Tip-toe, through the Popside, with a shotgun, and a cut-throat razor,To be fair it was similar at the old Baseball Ground on winter nights, Bovril, onions, and the smell of sheep shite in the air...

Tip-toe, though the Popside, with meeeeee….“
In my programme column on Forest songs and chants I have yet to cover those aimed at our woolly friends from down the A 5-2. When I do, I shall have to be careful which ones I include as it is a family publication, but I do want to include one or two of the, er, tastier ones for reasons of historical authenticity… The version I know of swaps this one round a bit: “…with a razor and a sawn-off shotgun”, but it dates back to around the time I first watched Forest as a 4-year-old and at that age you don’t really take in the words, just the noise, so I’ve relied on books and forums for the words of some of the chants that pre-date me.„Tip-toe, through the Popside, with a shotgun, and a cut-throat razor,

There is a thread on here about Forest chants and their origins that I posted on here a few years ago. It was called Classic Forest Songs. I'm sure you might find it helpful/useful. It would be great if you could add some insight to the thread, as the subject of Forest chants/songs it is a personal favourite of mine. Also it needs updatingIn my programme column on Forest songs and chants I have yet to cover those aimed at our woolly friends from down the A 5-2. Football songs are much like traditional folk songs in that the lyrics evolve and can produce many variations on a theme. Indeed, the legendary folk singer Martin Carthy once said that football chants were “the one surviving embodiment of an organic living folk tradition“. So next time you’re happily belting out “…ya can shove yer ‘ector up yer ‘ole…” and the like you can feel the deep satisfaction of someone who is preserving our cultural heritage…
Thanks for the tip-off (or reminder - I’ve probably seen it as I lurked here for many years before joining in…). I’ll take a look and see if there’s anything I can use myself or add to from my own memory/imagination. I have given LTLF a mention in dispatches for a version of one of the songs I’m currently writing about for the Arsenal programme and I’ll do so again if I use anything from that thread. There is a thread on here about Forest chants and their origins that I posted on here a few years ago.
