With our luck he'll have the tact and diplomacy of his Dad, and the footballing skills of his Mum.

More chance of Sidney James.

If he's half as good as his dad was I'd have him like a shot. Even if like his dad he mardies off after 18 months.

Would be nice to get some decent free kicks too. With Pierre anything within 30 yards was almost like a penalty. Those two against Brum...

Can someone summarise so I don’t have to click that clickbait site please?

He is reported as saying he doesn’t want to join a boring club.

Welcome to Forest. We may be shit but we’re never boring.

Looks like a typical Hughton target

Interesting that his dad says he's got a very similar free kick technique though. We're f***ing desperate for a set piece specialist.

Wonder why some take a good free kick and others don't? And corners, too. I mean, you'd think if they bothered to practice they could be quite good at just about anything when it comes to kicking a ball about. After all, it's a basic part of their job.

It's about practice and commitment, I read that Cristiano Ronaldo would stay behind after training for hours practicing free kicks and other techniques.

It is literally that. David Beckham was the same.

The more commitment to extended practice (good practice) the better the consistency will become as it becomes consigned to muscle memory. Interestingly studies have shown it can last for up to 15 years but only 3-6 months in other individuals. This can become apparent in some players who have suffered longer term injuries and need to rebuild that muscle memory again even for something like free kicks/corners.

An exaggerated example if you ever watch Soccer am is when ex pros come back to do a drill and some look effortless and others who were really good players look like they've never kick a ball before.

Free kicks are conceptually easy to master, if like PvH you're using them to shoot on goal. The only obstacles you have are the wall of players and the keeper but if you get it in the right place it will go over and around the wall with the keeper having no chance either. So it's just a case of doing it over and over until you can realistically hit these places most of the time. You can then use cardboard cut outs or whatever for the wall and goalkeeper...

Conceptually yes. Realistically no. The circumstance change due to outside factors such as the wall and goalkeepers positions varying and weather conditions etc. The fact that there are very few players who can consistently score or cause the keeper difficulty shows how much of an art it is. It requires a great deal of natural ability with constant good practice

It’s a bit like Bruce Lee famously said:

„I don’t fear the man who practiced a thousand kicks once. I fear the man who practiced one kick, one thousand times“

I don’t think it would take much for us to ruin him either.
