Support in surrounding areas

Mr RayReardon

As I'm not from Nottingham I'm not entirely sure whether there are regions or areas that make up our support. I'm often quite frustrated at the level of home suppport we generate in comparison to Nottingham's population.. a big, if not massive city, should be able to generate larger gates. Obviously new stadiums and success breads support but my question is what support is there in surrounding areas such as Long Eaton, Ilkeston, Eastwood etc.... Are these predominantly Derby/Forest/Notts Co or a fair split across all of them?

We do quite well for attendances usually, only a handful of games at home a season below 23000.

I live in Newark, and great to see how many (% wise) seem to support Forest.

not many Prem club shirts seen wandering about town, if they are, we are legally obliged to throw them in the Trent.

You'd be surprised how many plastic fans we still have, I don't often pop down Yeovil Town Centre without spotting a forest shirt, or someone mentioning mine

I'm from Eastwood and its all forest, Infact there were more port vale fans (2) in my year at school than sheep.

Long Eaton I think is a mix, ilkeston is a bit of a mix probably more sheep but there is quite a few forest. We do get loads of "walk ins" when you compare season ticket sales to attendance, the gap has to be sub 7k

Cash is King!
We have a lot support within the county (Newark, Mansfield, Sutton, Kirkby, Selston, Eastwood, Retford...). Worksop is between us and the Sheffield clubs.
We also have plenty of support in Derbyshire towns like Alfreton, Ilkeston, Heanor and Shirebrook.

Notts and Stags is insignificant by comparison.

Our attendances are about right IMO, it's not a huge city and it's not a one team city like Newcastle, Leeds or Wolverampton either.

I grew up in sandiacre, predominantly Forest. In my experience, Ilkeston was mostly Sheep and Long Eaton mainly Forest. Really on the limit's between the two, made the pubs on a Fri/Sat night good fun. Always thought Forest did well with regards to gates, there are a couple a thousand motivated individuals who turn up to notts and mansfield in close proximity. For the life of me I can't understand why, but hats off to those that do. As for derby, Burton don't really count as viable competition. A spell in perm would see regular sell-outs im sure.

I used to work the gates for Notts, and the Notts supports are PROPER die hards. Rain, wind or snow they'll be at the games, watching and hoping that one day NCFC will be in the big leagues.

Kinda similar to Lincoln City fans too, although that club is a full on joke. The majority of Lincolnites are Liverpool fans

from Edwinstowe, up here most of the fans of a non glory hunting variety are Forest, handful of Stags, 1 county, 1 derby i know.

where i work in sheffield, on my team at work, two forest fans, and another on the floor. no sign of any other non sheffield clubs support here either.

Brought up in Kimbo and Nuthall, pretty much Forest 99.9%

Now living in Sandiacre and seems a fairly even split, however my local the Blue Bell seems to be a predominantly Derby pub. Stapleford, whilst only a mile or so away is Forest through and through!

The amazing thing is how many Forest fans I bump into in the RAF. There's 5 that I know of here in North Yorkshire!

Going from the east/north east of the city Eastwood through Selston to Mansfield is all Forest and the same coming from Hucknall through Annesley Kirkby aand Sutton. All massive Forest areas.

With the Libertines, (is a long thread with quite a few Notts folk saying they were going) & "young" Jake Bugg playing Ally Pally in next 2-3 months; could be a few more Forest tops on show in "Norf" London!

All Arsenal, Tottenham, few Barnet, & "odd" Chelsea & Liverpool shirts on view where I am; but with the pending new sponsorship deal / ground name change; by 2020 maybe, will be seeing a few more Forest shirts..

Sorry don't want to hijack the thread, but a "London meet up" pub, should be agreed for this season.. Sometimes head to F3K, but tis bit far for lazy me to go their too often... Have Riley's (Where Sports Cafe used to be, for somewhere bit more central in Lestar square / Picadily area...

Oh & Forest play at Millwall on 20th September, but maybe keep colours covered up for that one tho...

I grew up in Selston out Ashfield way and everyone we knew there supported Forest, hence why I do, although my parents are both from Suffolk (my dad's an Ipswich fan). I live and work in Lincoln now and there are loads of Forest fans here. I quite often bump into people wearing Forest shirts. Lincoln City have support from the die-hard proper locals but in my experience most people round here are just glory supporters of the big teams. Loads of Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea etc. Where I work there's one Lincoln fan, a few Man City and Man United (none of them actually from Manchester) and quite a few Leeds fans. Loads of Leeds fans in Lincoln actually that I've noticed. Probably spotted as many Leeds fans as I have Forest.

I'm a Branston lad, originally... never knew any Leeds fans in Lincoln, so that's a worrying trend. Meet the odd Derby fan but Lincolnshire has a good spread of Forest supporters (and players), always has. That said I don;t get about in town much now when I'm back. Surrounding villages or Dog & Bone off Monk's Road so I'm pretty sheltered.

I'm from Loughborough originally, and there was always very few Forest fans at school. Overwhelmingly Leicester, which I used to hate, and used to play football with four Derby fans in my team

I grew up in Clifton 99.9% Forest although there was a pedestrian crossing at the bottom of our road which was black and white so probably a Geordie who was lost. - Derby ? not if they knew what was good for em.
