Summer 2023 Transfer Window

There's something I don't understand in this window. You seem to have loaned out 9 players (Scarpa, Freuler, O'Brien, Richards, Hwang, Panzo, Laryea, Mbe Soh, Bowler, Mighten). Don't FIFA rules apply to you? There's a limit of 7 players loaned out, and only home-grown players or players under 21 are exempt (only Mighten in your case). So, how can you have loaned out 8 players over 21?

MBE Soh might count as home grown. 21 at start of new season (turned 22 mid June) and been in the UK with us for three years.

If he's been with you for three years before turning 21, yes, he counts as home-grown.
Depends when old season ends and new season begins I guess.

Is it 1st June or 1st July?

31st August for the EPL, I'd assume this is a standard

Not by FIFA rules.

This suggests there is.

It's a bit vague, it suggests member associations have '3 years from 2022 to implement a domestic loan system thats in line with FIFA's' but then states 'loan rules agreed at national level may set a different limitation on the number of loans'.

Domestic loans have always worked slightly differently, we still had 'Emergency loans' up until 3/4 years ago, where you could loan domestic players outside of the 2 main transfer windows for up to 3 months.

FIFA: „*Some blather about limitations on player loan movements*“

Mr. Marinakis: „I‘ll make you an offer you cannot refuse…“

Ah, thanks, I had not noticed the exception, as our Federation hastened to comply immediately with FIFA rules (there have been seasons where we had up to 15 loanees).

For the purpose of the FIFA rule, an international loan is the transfer of the player's registration between national associations. The seven player rule (for this season, reducing to six next season) only applies to international transfers but players aged 21 and younger and club-trained players exempt from these limitations.

FIFA has asked national associations to implement similar rules for domestic transfers but only stipulates "the loan system that is in line with the principles established at international level", reducing the development impact from hoarding. It does not require national associations to have the same limits.

The EPL, according to handbook, sets a limit on domestic loans - or temporary transfers - but does not make a distinction between loaned and permanent international transfers, presumably as this is regulated by FIFA.

Forest apparently interested in a young player from Sunderland called Tom Watson. Hasn’t signed a professional contract with them yet so could move next summer. One for the future.

Left winger, used to be proper chubby but slimmed down a lot. Not sure would describe as one for the future, if anything he's a bit passed it.

He’s only 17. Might be a different player to the one you are thinking of?
