I think adding one of Aouar or Malinovskyi to what we've got now and midfield is looking fine. One more striker (possibly Maupay) and we've got good options up front too. Anymore I think would be overkill, Coops likes his 3 attacking options on the bench, Dennis replaces Mighten on the bench (mighten hopefully goes out on loan), Maupay replaces Taylor (who leaves) and Surridge Keeps his spot, leaves us with good variety and a chance for all 5 of those attackers to get plenty of minutes.

I agree

STRIKER (Maupey?)
ATTACK MID (Aouar / Mali / MGW)

I would also bring in a left wing back as well though.

But I wouldn't be against a few bonus ones as well. You just look at our bench, it is so so weak.

It's a 20 man travel squad so you've already got to drop one of:

Hendo, Hennessey, Williams, Biancone, Worrall, Niakhate, McKenna, Cook, LWB, Toffolo, Kouyate, Yates, Freuler, Mangala, O'Brien, Lingard, AM, Dennis, Johnson, Awoniyi, ST.

Then in reserve you have whichever player you leave out from that lot as well as Smith, Colback, Cafu, Richards, Taylor, Mbe Soh and Mighten. Assuming we'll try to shift Cafu and Taylor and try to find loans for Mbe Soh and Mighten.

Obviously you're always gonna pick up injuries in a squad but I don't think we'd want many more after AM, ST, LWB now, otherwise we're into the territory of Coops having to juggle players to keep them happy.

Thankyou Steve!
I'd like Aouar, because that would be ridiculous.

We probably need another striker over the course of the season, and a LWB depending on Richards' return date.

Then I'd like a cheeky interview with Cooper where he says... 'maybe one more' - enter M.G.W.

If only 20, that would allow one spare? also, would need to include Smith on that list, always take 3 GK's

As well as Mangala and O'Brien played yesterday, I still wouldn't be against Djibril Sow or James Garner, but I'm thinking why not hold onto the money now and consider using it in January (if those are not attainable right now)?

In Sow's case that lets him play his Champions League games with Eintracht (Eintracht might well be out of that competition at the group stage, not that that's certain of course). I've just got a feeling he could be a really really good player, with a combination of athleticism and skill to enhance the team quite a bit. I guess that's why 19 or 20 million Euros was mooted.

As for Garner we all know what he can bring to a Forest team, and maybe he'd be more available in January than right now too, although it could be an either/or situation with him and Sow for various reasons in January I guess.

I think for the first half of the season, at least bringing in another quality AM makes sense (and the most likely ones we're targeting seem to be the ones from Lyon, Atalanta and Wolves of course - the latter two maybe a bit more adaptable to other positions with Aouar more of a specialist number 10 it seems?), even if waiting to see how things pan out with MGW is also an option in theory (but especially if we lost Lingard for a while that would leave us short for sure during this first half of the season). For CM though, I think if we can't get the priority choices right now, there's no particular rush, so it might be worth putting the money to one side for later in the season.

They just showed a graphic on Sky Sports build-up.

It showed every promoted team for last 4 seasons and how many players they bought on going up

The lowest was 12, highest was 14 which was a joint 14 between us and Norwich.

So it goes to show, it's how it happens.

My worry - but it is what it is - that there is a correlation between large squad turnover and relegation. But let's face that when we get to it.
I think my reaction after seeing that graphic was that it was fairly well balanced between clubs staying up and going down. Could be wrong, memory playing tricks.

Just seems to be the quality of players brought in and the chap in charge.

So I'm happy.

I was trying to get up a screenshot to capture it - but my first instinct was it was about 1/3 survival.

First Team Squad
I still can't believe this transfer window. Its beyond insane, I'm already so excited about the possibilities of this squad, and it seems like there could still be a few more signings (some, like Aouar, which would really get me excited)

The BBC website are reporting that United are willing to see Garner.
The thing is, if he moves then presumably he's going to want to go somewhere that he's going to play every game. Is that really likely here? Central midfield is going to be a hell of a fight for places. Is it fair on him if he comes here and then sits on the bench for most of the season?

But that could be the case at any other PL team he might go to. Obviously, lots of Championship teams would snap him up, but does he really want another season in the Championship? If he came (back) to Forest, he knowns that he stands a very good chance of playing on a regular basis. Maybe not starting every game (or finishing every game), but regular PL football at a club where he’s really valued.

I mean, you may well be right. I'd just feel bad for him if he leaves United for his own personal development and then comes here and barely plays.

I think the Garner thing is where we should be investing in the future, especially with the age of some of the experienced midfielders we've signed. As would MGW, but Wolves's value prohibits that a bit at the minute.
