One less gobshite...
It does look a lot.If you sign Freuler, Sow and Aouar as is claimed by press reports you will have 9 players who can play in midfield, 10 if one includes Hammond who still is part of the first team: Colback, Yates, Cafú, Hammond / Kouyaté, O'Brien, Mangala, Freuler (?), Sow (?), Aouar (?). Even if you let Cafú go, disregard Hammond, consider Colback primarily a LB, and Aouar primarily an AM, that's still 6 players for 2 positions. That's the definition of an overkill (or nouveau riche territory).
We'll see what the plan is soon enough, but I think it will be shaped by two things: 5 subs from a bench of 9; and different approaches to the midfield in home and away games.
