Issue being that unless we intend on playing with an extra forward, he'd be going from bench at villa to bench at forest.

I'd love Davis here for the right price mind, just a bit more difficult to convince him unless he's been told categorically that he's not even going to make the squad there, in which case villa should be taking whatever they can get.
This is Villa we are talking about mate; they and their fans have always rubbed me the wrong way.

Macanthony plays the game well so it could be bollocks to push the price up. Not sure if it's been posted before.

Just as a point of reference AC Milan have a transfer kitty around €50m.

Premier league prices are obscene.
The VfB has currently a kitty of about €10m, but that is earmarked for younger players, although the pot will be boosted by revenue from player sales, and that is expected to be significant this summer.

When does the squad report back for pre season?
Derby's won't be until September when the secondary schools go back.

Ours, dunno, but since the season starts at the beginning of August and we need a few weeks to play friendlies etc I'd expect probably a couple of weeks...

If we assume we already have Henderson over the line, there is still a hell of of lot of work to do.

We all know that you only really get the best value towards the end of the window so the club has a decision to make. Either get the foundations of the squad in early and pay over the odds or accept you start the season with a weaker team and look to add in August.

I suspect it will be a mix of both. The squad in it's current state would be absolute cannon fodder in The Premier League and we will need at least another 4 or 5 before we face Newcastle.

With the lose of Garner and Zinckernagel, the midfield needs urgent attention. MGW looks a good fit but can we afford to wait around to decide what Wolves want to do? This may be one which runs to the end of the window.

The priority positions for me which must be addressed before we kickoff are:
*Both fullbacks
*Creative midfield/forward
*Box to box midfielder

We can then look to address other positions such as the need for a pacy CB and bulk out the squad throughout first month of thr season.

Spanish outlet chucking our name in the ring for 27 year old Cadiz winger Ivan Alejo. Can't really see us being in for a bench player in a struggling La Liga side though.

Based on the noise out there, MGW is supposed to make a decision on Wolves this week.

It's possible that we've talked to Them about this already. If he chose to leave it could happen quickly, presumably.

Anyone else of the opinion we’ve missed a bit of a trick in not signing the likes of Bowler,Twine,Wallace and Rothwell and loan them back to the championship as insurance in case the worst happens and we end up back in the championship?
I suppose the amount we need to do to the squad for this season means the idea of spending anouther £10-15m for next season is pretty low priority. Also, those players you're signing would need to be on board with coming in and being loaned straight back to the Championship, I'm guessing they'd have an issue with that, especially Rothwell and Wallace who are a bit older.

Most Premier league sides seem to be back today, think Bournemouth were back in over the weekend, so I'd expect we'll probably start early this week, if not today.
Worrying then really. Desperately short of quality and quantity at the moment

Not sure who else was in, but Surridge was in training gear with a tracking vest on in the background of the Awoniyi video. So some players must be back at the NDA already?

I take your point but the bigger Prem teams do this on a much bigger scale to enhance the market value of players. Using the example of Twine who I think looks a real prospect, if you were him given the choice would you sign us or a championship team, no offence to Burnley. For relatively small outlay I think he would prove to be a good investment and either eventually step up to a higher level or prove a good player for us if we went back down.

I don't think "join us and we might decide we actually don't want you" is a great message to be sending out to potential signings.

He looked a good player but it doesn’t fit with our other targets this summer. Also he didn’t really look quick enough for the Prem from the little I saw of him last season. Pretty much all our targets are quick.

If we go straight back down, the inevitable Johnson fee + parachute payments will let us hoover up any Championship players we want

Maybe next season, or the one after but at the moment i suspect we need every penny to be spent on players who will play and improve the first team (20 players).

Was going to post the same. Hardly enticing a player to join us by telling them they'll be shipped out on loan immediately.

As for Twine, he might see Burnley as a better option at the moment. Higher likelihood of regular gametime, not such a huge jump up, Burnley probably one of the favourites to go back up again and I can't imagine there's a huge difference in money.

He might look at it and think in 12 months time he could be going up and we could be going down. And he'll have a year of Championship football behind him.

Or of course we were never in for him in reality anyway and this is all paper talk.

Sure I read somewhere that Surridge had a minor operation at the end of last season so that may be why he was back in before anyone else

He did. I imagine him and Taiwo were in so the fitness lads can get a baseline of where they are at. Cooper is so detail-orientated that I imagine every player will have a tailored pre-season schedule.

You can see the argument but it depends if your ambition is to be a Norwich or a touch higher.

Dane’s plan is to sign all 3 - he’s seen the £ signs from the profit to be made from names on backs of shirts.
Someone tell him that the shop‘s record of maintaining correct stocks of individual letters in order to cater for demand is not good 🤦‍♂️

I’m anticipating a lot more ambition from the Forest hierarchy than say Norwich showed and the early signs are great. But take last season for example all our loan signings have gone back to their respective clubs and we’ve enhanced their value massively. We’ve put conservatively £10M on Djed, £5M on Garner and Davis. All I’m saying is we haven’t been as attractive a proposition for young talent for a long time and we should make the most of it while we are a draw, loan those out to enhance their reputations and either they become good enough to play for us in the Prem or we cash in/play them if we don’t stay up.
