That's it then. He's definitely off. Without him we're going to be relegated by christmas. very poor from the club to let it drag on like this so he can walk away after all he's done. unbelievable.

Only way I think this could happen is if we get a spanking in the next 2 games. The club could make the announcement as a PR exercise to lift spirits. It's a bit Mark Arthur-like but could happen.I think it's all done and dusted already tbh, he's being all coy but I think there will a suprise announcement sometime after the transfer window has closed
If you can’t differentiate between a country and a countries government that’s on you .
I haven’t been to Qatar, I would assume if I was to go there the majority of the people who live there aren’t *****.
Should the World Cup be there? No obviously not as the o ly reason it is is blatant corruption. It’s quite obviously not being boycotted though. You getting on your high horse doesn’t make it true.
Apologies for getting on my high horse over the deaths of 6k migrant workersIf you can’t differentiate between a country and a countries government that’s on you .

I have been there, and would not really want to go again. I have also been to Kuwait (much nicer, well, it was when we were done) and some of the other Emirates.Apologies for getting on my high horse over the deaths of 6k migrant workers
Anyway which bit isn't true
& yet you then agree with me & say the WC shouldn't be held in Qatar
It isn‘t just „outbidding“ commercially VP, they have such incredible, incalculable wealth, they can somehow make sure money ends up in the right place to influence decisions, too, such as those which saw the World Cup awarded to Qatar (which, let us not forget, is about the size of Birmingham) in the first place. The big problem is the vast wealth of these oil rich countries. They can literally outbid almost anyone for the sporting rights that they want and people like Eddie Hearn and others will take them up on it (the already fabulously rich golfers for instance) and then make feeble attempts to justify the money grab.
And there is nothing the rest of us can do about it.
I've never been to Qatar & I don't need to to understand that's its not right to hold a significant world sporting event thereI have been there, and would not really want to go again. I have also been to Kuwait (much nicer, well, it was when we were done) and some of the other Emirates.
To be honest, I am with Edward here, I am completely uncomfortable with FIFA awarding a World Cup to somewhere like Qatar. Nothing against the country personally, as It were, but their government (such as it is) and insular policies is a million miles away from the inclusive, welcoming spirit football is supposed to represent.
You cannot allow such despotic governments to whitewash civil rights and personal liberties, simply because they‘ve bunged a few quid into the right envelopes to somehow get awarded the greatest football tournament on the planet.
That is not right, on a number of levels.
Absolutely with you there Edward.I

I've worked in other places in the ME & usually find the people friendly & welcoming but I would still be very uncomfortable with Gaddaffi's Libya or Assad's Syria being a awarded a WC despite how nice the locals are
As I've said numerous times the hypocrisy behind it makes me want to puke
I think there's very few people that would disagree. It was a disgrace Qatar were awarded the World Cup, and the subsequent proven corruption within FIFA at the highest level, makes that decision even more dubious. The reported deaths, horrific laws and human rights violations are grim to say the least. Had major governments and sponsors withdrawn their support early on, it might have made a difference. The hypocrisy of players wearing rainbow armbands or shoe laces, or talking about social injustices and prejudice every week, then going off to play in Qatar is also unsettling. But at the same time I don't blame them. We're all a bunch of hypocrites, full of contradictions trying to bend morality to fit practicality. I hate to be so bloody nihilistic, but the world runs on money not principles. Will I still watch it? Probably. I do respect those that choose not to. Ultimately, it won't make any difference either way.I have been there, and would not really want to go again. I'll have a look tomorrow & see if the large German organisation I work for have a presence in those countries, I know we have in DubaiAbsolutely with you there Edward.
I can honestly say, there is one gulf state in which the large German conglomerate does not maintain an office, and that is Qatar, because, well, you guess.
And we have a substantial presence in Dubai (and we even have a small, albeit limited, Sales office in Iran).
I feel for the players, playing a WC is once in a lifetime for most so its a big ask to boycott itI think there's very few people that would disagree. Ah, compliance training. They love it.I'll have a look tomorrow & see if the large German organisation I work for have a presence in those countries, I know we have in Dubai
Think I'll do that instead of doing the wanky yearly online course about ethics & bribery that I scheduled in
I don’t think it was possible to show him we mean business more than we have this summer, especially with how we went about delivering MGW.I like to think he is just waiting to the end of the window. We know Cooper sets standards, maybe he is wanting it from the club.
If we get past the end of the window and no deal has still been signed I will be disappointed in him. We have given Cooper everything he would have wanted and have invested heavily in him, I think it should be repayed.
You'd think even if this was the case he'd do it more to protect his own interests though. I know I would. We don’t know what’s going off in his private life. It’s even mentioned his dad has health issues. Could be that he doesn’t feel he can commit long term here whilst that is hanging over him?
I can't remember which of the interviews it was in, I think one of the post-match pre-season interviews - Colin Fray asked him about the new contract - and Steve gave a non-committal - "It'll get sorted when it gets sorted, but my priority is getting the players ready".Has any other media mentioned it since? I think Dave Jackson may have asked him about it after one of the pre-season games but I haven't checked.
as per above, here he is asked about the contract extension and is quite evasive about itHe was pretty evasive on a new contract in this interview
There has to be a deal table for him to sign.
