Re: As yet unappointed Manager #50

Cheers mate. So a mixed bag for him really. Interesting to know whether the poorer aspect was him or the team.

Köln at that time were an absolute dumpster-fire, so he was hardly the only problem there.

Played some decent football at Regensburg if I remember right (which is what led him to the Köln job in the first place).

Mainz were also a mess, and in dire danger of going down. He did keep keep them in the Bundesliga though.

This sense of despair about all things Forest risks of turning into a self-fulfilling prophecy. If everyone around Forest(fans, managers, coaches, decision-makers, journalists, social media commentators, etc.) expects the worse to happen, there's a very good chance it will.

I'd take the middle one as a Sniffergram. :hey:

Praying we appoint someone younger than 50. We need new ideas in the club, not another journeyman.

They pulled Lamouchi out of nowhere. I'm hoping for similar.

Achim Beierlorzer is a whisper, absolutely nothing concrete other than a name I've been given as a candidate

Leipzig
koln
Mainz

Anything you know about him Strummer?

His name looks a bit like Bealoser so will probably fit the club ethos. Go get im fazza

Beierlorzer is also 53, so hardly a young and up-and-coming Manager.

Re: As yet unappointed Manager #50

There is some justification for this view, though?

Recruitment - Failure
Player development - Failure
Commercial activities - Failure
City Ground Renovation - Faulire (the Ground is a shabby mess)
Fan Engagement - Failure

Apart from the Academy gaining Category One status, the current regime have contributed absolutely nothing to the improvement of Nottingham Forest.

It is not unfair to say that the club is in a similar state to when it got relegated to League One in 2005.

My contempt for the pathetic matchday experience at Forest is well known on here.

Infuriatingly, it is something that should be relatively easy to get sorted. But, no.

Which to be honest is the only sensible option.

But on a serious note, not sure why people think this isn't a Murphy appoint which is based soley on people expected an appointment out of left field. Looking at the information which has been provided so far he is young and ambitious (tick), is invested in helping young players and developing them (tick), he appears to be tactically flexible based on what he did at Swansea (tick), possession based (tick).

It isn't like Barnsley were a great footballing side last year. The had a squad full of young hungry bastards who outfought and outworked most teams playing a pretty direct style up to Dikes (or whatever his name was).

John Percy's earlier tweet suggests this is a Murphy choice:

He says it's being led by Murphy despite him being out of the country getting married.

It just smells a lot like appointing someone who was successful at our expense elsewhere for me to be totally convinced it's a Murphy driven target.

If Murphy doesn't do the appointment I'll eat my hat, and Murphy will quit.
As for the comments above that "Forest is a basket case"... at some point (cliche alert!)... the tipping point... (I warned you!) the club has to become a former basket case.
If we are to be a permanent basket case then I will have to admit I know nothing of human nature, of football and the wheel of fortune really doesn't exist.
To everything turn, turn, turn,
There is a season, turn turn turn...
Forest had a turn at the zenith, the pinnacle.
Currently we are at the nadir.
But I am a fervent believer that the wheel of fortune may well turn slowly, but inevitably we will hit the upturn and like cream, rise to the top.
Be patient everyone.
Come on baby, let the good times roll.

Re: As yet unappointed Manager #50

When I go to watch my local side as I did the other weekend, typically it takes no more than a couple of minutes to get a refreshing half-Liter of Stuttgarter Hofbräu and a Wurst.

The biers are often pre-poured (so, staff and continuously filling up new glasses in the background) so it saves time.

Like at the cricket. Mental when there is an example of how to improve certain things literally a couple of hundred yards away.

Wouldn't be my first choice, or anywhere close to it, but he's not Hughton so a smidgen of progress at the minimum is absolutely guaranteed

Yeah, good point. Whenever (on my infrequent trips to the U.K.) I’ve been to Trent Bridge, the service has been significantly better than anything Forest have served up for years.

Re: As yet unappointed Manager #50

It really does have that feel about it. Hughton had to go and I dare say whoever comes in will get more out of these players but it feels like we're on the slippery slope down to the third tier, whoever the manager is.

Hope I'm wrong.

Yes,I was thinking that this morning.
Whoever comes in faces a monumental task in turning things round-the squad is short of genuine quality and
physically/mentally weak.
As a coincidence, the last time we visited the 3rd tier we also had a striker called Taylor.
Barring miracles,I think we’re done for.
