Seems like the request will be spread over the next few days?

Hopefully, the club can butter-up the Premier League a bit.

We have ambitions to be a mid table if not greater Premier League team, and if we achieve that our starting players are going to be worth £25m+, every one of them.

Based on that alone chances are our youth players won't make it here. Even those who play up years. They might go on to have decent careers in the Championship or League one, something which will be significantly better than most of our youth players manage.

Not saying it's impossible, just unlikely, and when financial goal of staying up is so massive then sorry but the youth players need to wait if we can get Cook back in, and like you say throwing in a kid to a PL relegation battle run in isn't fair on them either.
Those >£25m players have to learn their trade somewhere, don't they?
Why wouldn't they come through our Academy.
Or is our much loved and lauded Academy actually only capable of producing players worth <£25m?

Because we've been out of the premier League for ages, our youth facilities are nowhere near those who we're now competing against and East Midlands population density is small compared to the clubs we're competing against in the North West and London.

And lots of our £25m purchases are going to come from abroad where we can cast the net even further.

We've been exceptionally lucky with Worrall, Yates and Johnson being able to step up alongside us in the PL. Most teams only have 1 or 2 from their academy in their squads and they may or may not be good enough for the league above.

Forests quality in the academy may improve over time but we're unlikely to be producing the next Foden, Saka, Rice or whoever anytime soon.

It's rare for a Premier League team to have several academy graduates in the first team. The elite clubs manage more as they've hoovered up the best kids very early (and got in trouble for it). Players like Saka, Foden, Alexander-Arnold are once in a generation players really and its even rarer for a group of them to come through at the same time like United had in the 90s.

If you actually look at the current England side, there are loads that had to do their time in the lower leagues before getting their big break.

We have to accept that as we get better, the chances of academy lads playing in the first team gets much smaller. However the academy can still be a useful source of income as players not quite good enough can be loaned and bought by clubs in the football league. Look a Liverpool, in the past few years they've sold off Awoniyi, Wilson, Solanke and Williams then Ibe a few years before that. All for big money.

Cookie following up his 'we love VAR' Huddersfield jibes with a sequel. Good lad he is, always liked him.

Played his part in the club's resurgence and seems like a top fella. He could still do a job in the Championship so hopefully we can find someone to take him on.

He did that pass that gave us our win over Liverpool.

I had been waiting over 2 decades to beat them.
I dislike them more than any other club and its not even close
Have disliked them since as long as I can remember because from Jnr School upwards their plastic Nottingham fans are some of the most insufferable arrogant twonks around. Much like most plastic Liverpool fans!

I was unable to go to the game so watched at home
Anyway I slipped after running around my living room with extended celebrations and cracked 3 of my ribs.
The next 5 weeks of pain was worth it

He'd do a job for someone in the Championship still, for sure. Can't see a future for him with us though especially since we can only register 25 players.

There's not a chance really.

Much as I like Cook, he isn't going to be ahead of (assuming they are here next season)
Felipe
Niakhate
Boly
McKenna
Worrall
and we don't have room to register six centre backs in a 25 player squad anyway.

We will also have Mbe Soh, Harbottle, Panzo who are coming back from loans and are also over 21 and would need to be registered.

Our extra CB backup would be options like Yates or Aurier (assuming he stays) playing out of position and/or kids such as Aaron Donnelly and Zach Abbott who count as U21 players and wouldn't need to be registered (again, assuming they won't be loaned out).

It'd be a shame to have those not playing so they're likely to either leave or be loaned out again.

Hopefully he gets a good club if he wishes to continue playing.

I think I read somewhere he’s helping with coaching the youth teams so if he’s retiring hopefully he stays with the club in some capacity.
