Strange decision if you ask me , having two front line keepers now we want 3 . Don't see the point tbh.

A young international 'keeper on a free? I reckon that's a great bit of business.

How many times have we said that.. Collecting footballers doesn't necessarily lead to a decent football team... Worth bearing in mind we already have the U21 Swedish keeper who's 22.. Whats the point?

Bizarre signing. Not needed with Pantilimon and Smith here.

Pantilimon is only a loan remember so I'm assuming Karanka is anticipating him going back to Watford in the summer

He most likely is a good keeper if he has been capped by his country 9 times at such a young age. But I don't think we need three goalkeepers in the senior squad. I can only assume this signing is being made with one eye on next season.

Well yes. Signing players in their early twenties is generally about more than the following six months.

I'm also relieved we have Vrentzos now. He looks like he can get rid of the trash quite quickly.
And get you some new one...

The Kapino story does not make much sense. First of all he has not been released. He still figures on the club's website and there has been no announcement of his release either by the club or by the Greek Football Federation (which always publishes consensual termination of contracts). He just forms part of five players who had been left out of practice by our previous manager; the other four we managed to get rid of, Kapino we did not.

Now, as far as the kind of player he is:
He started from Panathinaikos, where he seemed an incredibly talented prospect in the age of 19. He was a starter and had some incredible performances. He had a falling out with the club, he managed to get a transfer to Germany and eventually we bought him. I don't know what the hell he did in Germany, but he returned a much worse keeper. He seemed more unfit, and less agile. Nevertheless, the club obviously liked the idea of developing a keeper who would be a starter for ten years, and all Olympiacos media tried to convince us that he was excellent, although he clearly wasn't, made many mistakes, could obviously not communicate well with his defence, and generally created a growing sense of insecurity at the goalpost.

Apparently, there were character problems as well, and bad relations with the other players. After a game against AEK, where he made a number of mistakes leading to defeat, the rumour is that Marinakis himself demanded that he left the team. Eventually the manager decided that he could not hide his problems under the carpet, and ordered him out of practice.

In this transfer window he was told to find a team. He had offers, but he denied all of them, wishing to find a secure place as a starter, and a good championship, and lots of money.

Bottom line: we don't like him, never did. He brought bad karma to the goalpost.

The only way the Forest rumours are true is if he agreed to come in the summer, instead of Pantilimon. Right now, I doubt that he can sign a contract for Forest, for technical reasons.

We've only got You tube to go on, suffice to say if this has been used as a scouting tool, I'm f***ing amazed he's coming.

Looks like he comes for anything & everything, he likes to bat everything away Vlad style & generally looks a loose canon.

Dunno where we're pitching this lad in the order, but Smith still looks the best bet to me.

Then consider the lads got a personality disorder.

Not a good reference

As for him not actually being released - maybe it's a pre-contract agreement for the summer as a direct replacement for Pantilimon. Makes sense surely. That, or he's come to take Smith's place as they want to loan Smith out next season.

Well hopefully its a load of crap. We seem to have loads of good young keepers coming through. Smith has done really well this year consdiering the defence he's had in front of him. Tim Erlandsson was getting good reveiws last year when he was out on loan. Drives me bonkers..

Now that I think of it again, there might be a way to bend the rules: if Olympiacos can convince the Federation that there was a consensual termination of contract before February 1, the Federation usually accepts the "fact". I'm not sure the FA will endorse such an obvious ruse, however.
