I've put Ref Watch tomorrow on the record button. I just can't wait to see what twaddle Dermot Gallagher comes out with.

Oh it will be 'insufficient contact' and if you go back to previous episodes, he'll have watched a similar incident that was given on field and there wasn't enough to overturn it.

Different competition, but Coventry getting robbed of their moment of glory in the FA Cup the same way they bin off replays forever isn’t great for the general perception of “us” and “them”.

Pretty fed up of the attitude of “shut up and take your medicine” from some.
The VAR take on that late Cov goal was laughable. The lines were indistinguishable, they should just have said level and got on with it. The equipment is not good enough to sort out decisions by millimetres.

I posted a few weeks back that PGMOL have closed ranks on us - further evidence today!!

The tweet today is only a taste of what is to come from our owner if we go down.

Three shocking decisions but it can’t be a smoke screen for our first half lethargy today. Facing a team who got drubbed a few days ago we needed to fast out of the traps but were not.

When I first saw the tweet after the game, I was a bit embarrassed. Having seen replays of all 3 penalty claims, I can completely understand the frustration from Forest; the CHO one is the most blatant penalty you'll see. In no way should it be an excuse for the performance, but it's shocking officiating. In Nuno's defence, he's had some harsh decisions go against him since he joined.

To add to my annoyance with VAR, the Coventry disallowed goal seems so harsh; even if the technology was there to draw accurate lines and half his foot was offside, what advantage is he gaining. Needs to be more benefit given to the attacker, I don't buy the argument that if he's offside, he's offside. I don't want knee caps and big toes to be offside; the game is meant to be beautiful, not completely scientific.

Thing is, one expects competence from all angles. The players need to do their job to their best of their abilities as do the coaching staff from the clubs concerned and in return from that one expects the refereeing team to be competent and apply the rules fairly.

It's bad enough that VAR can only intervene in certain areas (and hence wouldn't have been able to intervene with something like the Boly red card) but here we have had four examples of issues in the box, whether it being two Everton players trying to rugby tackle Wood when he's trying to win a header, fouls, handballs, which the onfield referee hasn't given, and which VAR hasn't seen fit to reconsider. And these are just being added onto a long list of penalties we haven't had let alone other decisions whether or not these were ones VAR should or shouldn't have seen.

So part of the reason we lost today was that we only had what 2/3 clear attempts on goal all match and that Danilo saw fit not to close down a player on the edge of the box twice but part of that was also that four times we had attacks interfered with illegally due to infringements in the area which were not given.

Twice this season Neco has been clipped in the box and they haven't looked at it. Another time the same thing could happen and lead to an injury.

If the players aren't getting the right protection from officials, then it's an understandable attitude (if perhaps not the right one) for them to back out in these situations.

Time for DRS like they have in cricket. Give each captain one or two challenges a game.

If the ref got it wrong, you keep your review.
Slight flaw with that. You're still relying on VAR to make the correct decision...

I've got a sneaking suspicion that our case against PGMOL and the PL will involve Marinakis/Clattenberg having liased with match officials in other countries and had every one of our 'dubious' decisions looked at, complete with a rational judgement.
Of course, it could also involve him blowing up a bakery.

Indeed, there is a reason Clattenburg is here and one would suspect he has a debrief of all the decisions which have gone against us analysed from his professional expert view as a former select group and international referee.

Given that we still have Nick De Marco and also a KC floating around the place there's plenty of expertise to get a case assembled.

Pardew said on the radio earlier we'd sue the league If we're relegated. I thought at the time he's talking rubbish but the more I think about it I think he may be right.

Atwell due to officiate Wolves v Bournemouth on Wednesday.

What are the chances 3 days later he deems exactly the same incidents as todays as as fouls.

Said this ages ago.

We got Clattenburg in for a reason yet incredibly the decisions have got worse and there’s more of them. Especially since the FFP breach and subsequent appeal was announced.

The people (Forest fans or not) saying we somehow deserve this treatment because we hired Clattenberg get me.

Like, sorry, what?

Systematic bias is ok because we’ve hired someone who’s role is notionally to help us understand refereeing decisions better? Ok, seems fair.

Oh, is he generally a bit unpopular and appears on Gladiators? Alright, fair enough then 🙄.

Has he actually said or done anything controversial beyond a couple of “not sure about those refereeing decisions there”?

We didn't hire Clattenburg to help us understand decisions better.

We hired him to:
A) Try and get us some favour amongst other refs and balance the decision making, and failing that:
B) Having a ex-professional expert witness if we went down the legal route.

I don't think the club would have expected the decisions to get worse and be more frequent. It's almost like the PGMOL have decided our actions are threatening and so they are pre-emptively trying to get us gone.

You could well be right I suppose.

It’s the idea that some people have that PGMOL giving us even worse decisions because we hired him is somehow OK that gets my goat.

Can you provide any evidence for this? Are you employed by the club?

No and no.

There's just no logic for us employing someone simply to "help us understand decisions". We're not retards, and besides, Clattenburg in his capacity is doing media rounds for us.

Oh, Clattenberg writes for the Mail. f*** him then.

Point stands though - it’s not OK for refs to punish clubs for making bad decisions off the pitch.
