What the ref said to Yates about not returning the ball to us.
“The referee told me: ‘That’s the rule, they get the ball.’ I honestly don’t know how that is possible."
So he doesn't even know the rules he's supposed to apply. The concern is that's a rule almost everyone knows so what other rules does he not know?
On that basis he should be boiled down for glue.
IIRC, at no time does Konate hold his head, suggesting its a head injury. He looks to see if Liverpool have cleared the danger, sees that they haven't and goes onto his knees.Checked the highlights on the Forest site and on Sky.
Neither show the corner, Konate going down, the ref blowing his whistle with CHO in possession. Unbelievable (Jeff).
It's on the MOTD highlights, but why is such a pivotal moment not on other highlights?
This is exactly what happened. I didn't see any evidence of a head injury. When the cheat Konate stood up he was more concerned with one of his feet.IIRC, at no time does Konate hold his head, suggesting its a head injury. Tierney stops play, runs over, and within seconds, he has jumped up and got ready for the restart. Meanwhile, Diaz has taken the ball off CHO and given the ball to Tierney.
You just know if it had happened the other way round (no chance I know) that it would have been a large part of the highlights. Last nights coverage on 5 live was infuriating - ex-players and a so called journalist spouting off about something they hadn't watched properly. They spent about 5 minutes laughing about our appointment of Clattenberg.Checked the highlights on the Forest site and on Sky.

You only have to think back earlier in the season when Liverpool had two sent off against Spurs (rightly IMO) and they lost it at the death. They were demanding the game be replayed FFS. Surprised questions weren’t asked in the House of Commons. You just know if it had happened the other way round (no chance I know) that it would have been a large part of the highlights. If Jurgen had said the same thing I'm sure he would have been taken seriously.
We have the technology, so we should use it. Rugby Union does. Cricket does. The 4th official on Saturday apparently realised that Liverpool's referee had got it wrong so why wasn't play stopped & the referee speaks to the 4th official & then we get the ball. Not looking at a sending off for a second yellow is ridiculous - I'm still amazed Boly was sent off, I thought the opposition's player committed a foul & was getting a yellow card. The decision to send Worrall off at Old Trafford was insane. He wasn't the last defender. I could go on.........I just don't understand why we are getting so many decisions go against us.Why can’t the ref use VAR to check things they’re unsure of. It works perfectly in rugby.
On Saturday the ref could have paused the game, asked VAR to check who should have the drop ball (Spoiler: It was us) then make the correct decision.
How have we got to a point where the refs are required to guess and then VAR only step in where they are ‘allowed’ to, and only if it’s a whopper?
This is not an effective way to use the technology.
I think the argument has always been that doing this would mean more stoppages in play, slowing the game down and disrupting the natural "flow" of the gameWhy can’t the ref use VAR to check things they’re unsure of. It works perfectly in rugby.

Absolutely, it happens in rugby all the time, takes seconds. You'd have thought a quick "Yo guys is this right" on the headsets wouldn't really disrupt the flow. The chances of all 5 officials being wrong at the same time is minimal.
If the officials had anything about them, they'd have done it during the stoppage, and it'd have been 'Restart, Forest Ball' or 'Restart, Liverpool Ball' in Tierneys ear.Absolutely, it happens in rugby all the time, takes seconds.
Absolutely. Given most of the ground were shouting it at him (words to that effect). You'd have thought a quick "Yo guys is this right" on the headsets wouldn't really disrupt the flow. The chances of all 5 officials being wrong at the same time is minimal.
I was shouting something rather more profane at him.Absolutely. Given most of the ground were shouting it at him (words to that effect).
Leaving out the swear words, I shouted "YOU" .I was shouting something rather more profane at him.
