Snatchday 1: Nottingham Forest Vs the PGMOL

Even if - just for a minute suspend your belief - Taylor does not call Atwell, surely, absolutely certainly, the VAR should see this as a topic that he should be looking at?

The VAR is there to raise the attention of the Referee to „clear and obvious“ errors is he not?

WTF happened here, had Atwell nipped for a piss, or something?

This does not make sense.
So yesterday we all called the fact there would be no audio. What's our bets today for why?

a) The VAR was unwell and had to go to the toilet

b) Technical issue in recording

c) Technical issue wiped it

c) The VAR doesn't have to communicate if he doesn't think there's an error, only when he thinks there is

If it is the last one, he wants sacking because he is either incompetent, or corrupt.

I can't stand VAR but if it's staying then I'm sorry but this "clear and obvious error" bullshit needs to go

All it does is allow them to effectively control the outcome of a game by justifying terrible decisions with "well it was / wasn't clear and obvious"

For the third penalty the on-field ref indicated he didn't give the pen because he thought Young got the ball, but you can clearly see on the replay that he didn't

So either Attwell was out having a piss when it happened or he didn't deem that a clear and obvious error, which is so blatantly was

Utter utter bullshit

I suppose he could have just had a quick rewind, watched it in silence, and decided no further action was required, therefore no need to speak to the referee.

In which case I think it's reasonable to ask him after the fact about his decision making process.

Why isn't it acceptable to ask him about his decision making process if he has a reasonable explanation?

It's been three days now and the PGMOL are still f***ing about, seemingly hoping to stall to the point whereby the world moves on and this is all forgotten about.

They could have cleared this up in 5 minutes if they really wanted to - but it seems fairly obvious at this point that something is amiss and whatever they release will be extremely damaging to them.

I'd say it's clear and obvious something is!

The no audio for the third goal is just an interpretation of what the Mail published.
I would not be jumping to hold on to that without anything more substantial being published.

Is there a link to the news about there being no audio for the third goal - I couldn't see anything. This would be nuclear

I don't think it really matters to be honest. They either looked at it or they didn't, and there either is audio of it or there isn't. Whatever the case is, I think it's reasonable to ask for an explanation and I applaud the pettiness of refusing to take no for an answer at this point.

If they do actually come up with an explanation I guess we then have to consider whatever it is they come up with 🤷‍♂️

Why can't they film the VAR officials so that it can be replayed for any queries. One of the screens in shot should show the current game feed to align with any tv feed.
They often do this in Bundesliga matches - if there is a lengthy VAR stoppage, one triggered either by the Man with the Whistle on the pitch, or by the VAR, you are often treated to an overhead view of the VAR Room in Köln, where the VAR and his assistant can be seen intently staring at their screens, so you know something is actually being looked at, its not that they’ve just nipped out to make a quick coffee or something.

All the VAR staff are in a bunker in Köln, for security. You can read more about the Bundesliga‘s approach to VAR here:

(also - we had „Ref Cam“ earlier this season as a test, in a match between Eintracht and Wolfsburg, which was fascinating, and something the DFB said they might well use more in future).

Ok I've just put the game on and the exact quote from the commentator is

"Well the VAR has already looked at it and already decided for the third time today in Ashley Young's favour"

The time elapsed from the moment CHO was tackled to the moment the commentator quoted the above was 37 seconds.

Well, I have just tested my Nespresso machine and it takes more than 37 seconds to make a coffee, so I don‘t think Atwell had nipped out to make a quick brew?

Absolutely. If the decision is not given on field, there can be 'not enough for VAR to intervene/overturn'... or decision given on field and then also 'not enough for VAR to intervene/overturn'.

Guess who has not been given ANY on field decisions in our favour.

All 3 penalties we have conceded were given on field. Those awful penalties Liverpool got earlier on the season, on field. Man Utd's handball penalty the other day on field.

Also, listen just how quickly this is given. No hesitation whatsoever.

Just to be clear I am reporting what was said this morning on TalkSPORT. Otis has confirmed that he heard it.

Members of this forum will know that I’m not prone to making outrageous or inflammatory comments.

NFFC will be given access to whatever is available, and no doubt we will hear shortly their views.

Today we also heard that NFFC were incensed and wanted to issue their tweet at half-time (only two disallowed penalties at that stage) but were dissuaded by their Media Officer. Clearly NFFC were apoplectic at full-time after the third penalty incident.

What is clear though is that there is an ongoing agenda against Forest from some of PGMOL. The PL nominated referee and VAR official for the Euros both miss three penalties in the same game - coincidence or incompetence?

It's all about mid-table...
We made an official complaint about Attwell (the referee) and Taylor (the VAR) after the Manchester United match. This was their payback, forget Luton, this was them getting revenge. The audio must be released.
Yabba dabba doooo !

It's all a bit ova the top for me all this, but if all these shannanagans brings VAR an all thee uva ballix down I'm all behind it.

So, we’ve got Simon Hooper in the middle against Citeh, wasn’t he the clown who didn’t see Yates get punched in the stomach and then the VAR said it was a gentle push, no action to be taken.

I think Simon Hooper was the ref who inexplicably gave Liverpool the ball back leading to their goal too - but I could be wrong.

Atwell was the ref, but it was Robert Jones on VAR, the same one who decided to get his revenge by sending Boly off, when he was the one who was actually fouled.
