Snatchday 1: Nottingham Forest Vs the PGMOL

GOBIAS

Ian Bowyer
Best result for Luton was what they got, an Everton win.

Everton were 2 points clear of them, 2 games in hand on them and still had Sheff utd to play. No way were Luton catching Everton even if Everton lost.

So any sort of points for Forest was a bad result for them.
That’s exactly what I thought. I’ve seen a few people saying Luton wanted a draw but they are far more likely to catch the closest team to them, especially as we have Man City next.

I still don’t think it matters anyway. What sort of moronic organisation leaves themselves open to the suggestion, especially when it was pointed out to them.

I dont see how Luton would want a draw. The favourable result is to keep the nearest team near. It isn’t really the point though. They could have put anyone in the studio for that game but they chose a Luton fan, even after it was pointed out.
Agreed. The opta stats have had Luton at 60 odd % and us at 30 odd to go down. Everton for all their wailing, on about 5. It’s been us and Luton for a while now.

“How can we stop the fans arguing about ticket-gate?”

“Erm, send a batshit crazy tweet about corrupt officials. That’ll give them something else to talk about”

I see your game, Cartledge and Bell. You don’t shake us off that easily

I think he absolutely has a case if he wanted to bring charge of libel against us - the defence against libel is, if the statement was:
  • True - impossible for Forest to prove and we would have to prove it in a court of law.
  • Honest opinion - a possible defence but very, very weak (a bit like out own at the moment).
  • Publication on a matter of public interest - I don't see any way that could be made a defence as I think the tweet clearly targets him not the VAR system per se
  • Absolute and qualified privilege - doesn't apply
  • Offer of amends - we swiftly and publicly apologise and retract the statement and offer some form of action/amount/anything really, as a form of contrition to show we recognise our mistake and hope the claim is dropped
I would doubt he will bring a case as it opens up all kinds of issues and suspect the PGMOL will want negotiate some form of retraction by us

I think you can both feel aggrieved by the deliberately incompetent officials and shit decisions the club make off the field at the same time. I certainly do anyway. The players were awful today and I felt that coming home, yet the decisions made by referee and VAR reek of bias.

I’d dig in now. If tiny balls Atwell wants to sue us let’s hope he has deep pockets.

I don't think Forest care. At most it will cost them a few years worth of salary. I think they're more concerned with getting to the root cause and shedding as much public attention on it as possible.

I get that but to make the inference that it was his "allegiance" to Luton that was behind his actions rather than utter incompetence doesn't address the wider issues with VAR, in fact it reduces them.

Not if Forest actually believe that it was his allegiance rather than incompetence. Forest seem to believe that there's more to it than incompetence, they've skirted around saying it for a while. Therefore for them they are addressing the issue.

PGMOL for me could have avoided the perception of any possible wrong doing on the part of VAR by not having a supporter of a close rival in the seat on the day.

Had someone else been in the VAR chair on the day it would have been annoying and appeared just as incompetent but would not have looked as bad as it being a supporter of a club that gets a benefit from the errors. Let's not forget the effects on the players can drag on into subsequent games.

If I start to feel that it hardly matters, true or not, that what the team do on the pitch the officials will manage to negate with bad decisions, professional or not they will have been affected by all the bad calls this season. Players in general are supposed to be a superstitious bunch and this seems like bad juju.

Now we've got their attention.
Back whenever the hell it was when we appointed Clattenburg we were mocked, laughed at by all and sundry. Not one stopped to ask "Why have Forest done that then?".

Wolves got a lot of love for their early season howlers against them, yet our filled montage of absolute howlers given against us was completely ignored, and if they were mentioned it was in the "Every club has to deal with bad decisions, just get on with it" shortly followed by a round of laughter with Clattenburg jokes and memes.

Not today though. Not after Gary Neville and Carragher tried to tow the line for the PGMOL and smeared us on live tv calling for employees to be sacked. The vast majority of fans outside of the media are behind us, Everton fans commenting that they never seen anything like it.

It was an angry emotional tweet but it has done more than what we tried to do upteen times this season by issuing a Monday morning public complaint and a love letter exchange with the PGMOL. It got a polite sorry and F**K all else, more of the same lads.

The Big Man blew the doors off the place. Christ knows whats next but i'm right behind the lunatic. F**k the Premier League.

As much as I'm anti Marinakis, if there's any owner you want to burn down the PL bias then it's him. We've gone past niceties, he's the man you want to cause an absolute racket.

And I am sure he will.

I think, the Premier League are absolutely terrified that Marinakis‘ frankly bonkers approach and completely not giving a f*** threatens to upset the cozy hegemony of the so-called „Sky Six“, and - let us face it - that is what the PL base their multi-billion quid television revenue on.

It’s not in their interest to have such a loose cannon running around, because he’s a disruptive influence.

And clearly, they don’t want that.

We’ve been complaining to PGMOL all season about refereeing and VAR decisions but, rightly or wrongly, we’ve now got their full attention.

As a club, all we’re insisting for is consistency and true officiating instead of what appears to be blatant bias on the pitch.

We have 4 games left. We will see soon enough.

I think we might have accidentally tapped into a well of discontent with fans, if social media is anything to go by.

Its pretty obvious that that tweet was prepared and sanctioned off in advance of that game.

Ready to be sent if things went against us.
