Shaun Derry, the "Championship Expert" predicts...

Col

Has he singed yet?
Shaun Derry has written for the Daily Mail about who he thinks will finish where next season. He has us fourth, and Derby 18th (lol), but sadly has Leicester second. :(

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ionship-kick-Shaun-Derrys-expert-verdict.html

1. West Ham
2. Leicester
------------
3. Ipswich (!!!)
4. Forest
5. Leeds
6. Reading
-----------
7. Blackpool
8. Birmingham
9. Hull
10. Cardiff
11. Southampton
12. Portsmouth
13. Crystal Palace
14. Brighton
15. Burnley
16. Middlesborough
17. Milwall
18. Derby lol
19. Doncaster
20. Bristol City
21. Coventry
---------------
22. Watford
23. Peterborough
24. Barnsley

I'm a bit suspicious about his claims to be a Championship expert, but I could see the table ending up like that.

Probably swap Blackpool and Ipswich around, and I don't think it's far off.

You think Blackpool have the potential to finish 3rd? I'm not writing off Millwall as playoff contenders.

Yes. Although this is largely based on their recent record of getting a team together that perfroms better than the sum of it's parts.

Ipswich, on the other hand, will eventually be hampered by having Paul Jewell in charge.

I don't think Watford will get relegated, there's more shite about - Derby, Coventry, Palace etc

I see Birmingham, Hull and Palace being lower than thos epositions.

I think Boro, Burnley and Pompey being higher.

Fair enough. I think Brum will do okay too.

Cant see leeds being top 6, id put Southampton up there

Barnsley won't go down, let alone finish bottom. They've made some real quality additions from League One who will make the step up. Leeds won't finish top five. Can see either Brighton or Southampton gatecrashing the top six too.

I think giving Fester an Autoplace is lazy thinking. They are more likely to emulate last season's Cardiff. They are a squad not a team,

After listening to ND's interview I am feeling more confident about us.

Unless Leeds invest they wont make the playoffs.

Reading will be pushing for an Auto place and Ipswich will drift downwards by mid season.

I also fancy Chaventry for the drop and administration.

I think Cardiff, Brum and Southampton will all do better than he's predicted. You could practically chuck Hull out of the equation and then the rest of the top 11 could finish anywhere up there. It's a tough league this year.

Nottingham's dirty secret
I think the newly promoted teams, Brighton and Southampton will surprise a few people, with Southampton in particular potentially finishing top six.

Leeds have lost a few decent players so may not do as well as last season and Ipswich top 3??? never!!

Leicester will be play offs I reckon, we'll be about where he predicted but we could be anywhere between 8th and 2nd IMO. As for the teams predicted for relegation I think Barnsley will finish a bit higher and so will Watford. It will be Crystal Palace, Coventry and Peterborough in the bottom 3 maybe mill wall knocking at the door of relegation as well.

I'd probably swap coventry with watford and put ipswich down a few places. Whilst I don't really rate the players Leicester have brought in they do now have a large squad of players which seems to make a big difference in this league >> Look at Doncaster last year at one point they had 12 fit players 8-10 injured and lost about 6 or 7-1 to sheff utd?

I think Blackpool are a good outside bet for top 2 - I certainly expect them in top 6. So'ton could do well too. Other than that and Forest top it looks ok.

I played cricket on Saturday right next to Bournemouth's ground. They were playing Crystal Palace in a friendly. Palace lost 3-1. Talking to some of the Palace supporters as they trudged out they are almost suicidal about their prospects this season and fully expect to be relegated.

I know supporters can sometimes be a little 'skewed' in how they view their team's chances, but on the basis of what I heard Saturday I think that that table has Palace about 10 places too high.
