Set-pieces/Corners

Good to see Forest one-day be able to score more from them (we definitely have an improvement in delivery with Zinckernagel but still more improvement required) but we really have been a bag of shit defending them for too long. Whether it is directly or 2nd balls.

I think we've perfected conceding the ugly goals but don't score enough of them ourselves.

In this league of fine margins it is such a vital part of the game.

Clubs are employing specialist set-piece coaches. Some serious training ground time & study is required.

The last decent set-piece I can recall was Andy Reid‘s corner, headed in by Jack Hobbs, in a 1-0 win against the sheep.

That both players have since died, tells you how long ago that was.

They've been a major weakness for far too long

You wouldn't see the keeper making mistakes like last night if he had confidence in his back line to deal with the incoming ball

Absolutely spot on. We just waste every set piece because it's the same old rubbish dished up every time.

Ian Breckin was here the last time we were any good at corners.

The one thing MON was good at when he was here was making us a threat from set pieces.

I don't get why you don't put some serious work into them, we have looked useless at them for most of my Forest supporting life.

Luke Chambers wasn't bad at heading them in, didn't he score the opener against the Sheep in the 5-2 game?

Also, I recall Pinillos scoring from a set piece against them too in the Warburton Derby game.

Benalouane v Sheep too?

In fact weren't Wague's goals under MON all from set pieces?

Fair to say we're rubbish at it now.

Luke Chambers once scored a fantastic flicked back-heel goal from a set-piece, in the cup against Middlesbrough.

He also once decided to down tools against Birmingham and let them score.

Crossing in general has been very bad for a long time. Reidy and Commons were the last two I can remember who were consistently good.

I’m puzzled as to why Lolley remains the go-to corner taker at the club. Surely, someone in the coaching set-up must have noticed by now that his constant bombs to the back post don’t end up in a Forest chance, let alone a goal.

Conceding from them seems to be our main problem at the moment.
