If he's highly thought of by Soton then I'd imagine he's not solely a target man.

We do need someone with only one fit first team striker.

If true is it really worth bringing in a young injury hit player from another club that is probably more of a Dex type player when we could give young Tyler Walker a try?. Who we don't really have a like for like replacement for.

Maybe Tyler just isn't ready yet?

Only speculating, but that's the impression given off.

Tyler walker would also struggle in the lone striker role. Mad to think people want to through him straight in.

I doubt many people (myself included) have actually seen Walker play.

I have. He definitely looks the part for the U-18s/U-21s but, in my view, is far from ready for the big team. I'd argue that Bamford was considerably nearer at the same stage of his development.

Crucially though, Cotterill, for unfathomable reasons given our lamentable goals return at the time, didn't agree. A decision that possibly hastened Bamford's departure.

Perhaps he isn't. But is this other guy?.
Gallagher would have played many more games in the Premier League this season were it not for injury. He's part of Southampton's first team plans not just for the future but also the present.

Whether we want another injury prone player - on loan or not - is another matter entirely!

Walker is still basically a kid. He's not physically ready yet to play 1st team football. Maybe in 6 months/a year he will be worth considering.
