Birmingham Mail linking us with the Wolves man on loan: https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sp...-midfielder-linked-nottingham-forest-15058587

6'3 Moroccan international midfielder who can also play at the back. Fits with what Redchief said a while back about Karanka being after one more powerful, dominant centre mid.

Not featured for Wolves this season but played 42 games alongside Neves in their midfield last season. You'd think Bridcutt and Yates will be loaned out if Saiss does come in.

I thought he looked good for wolves, although he was surrounded by, generally, 10 better players, so whether he would have the same effect for us remains to be seen
I think this would be a good signing because he did look class for wolves at times last season

I'd be more than happy with this as I voted Romain

He was one of Wolves' most consistent players last season, would be a great signing.

And certainly fits the bill of the powerful CM Karanka allegedly wants.

Edit: had a look on the Wolves forum, they aren't happy one bit

We need more who can go box to box, Guedioura is currently the only player who can break from deep.

Not sure whether Saiss does this, but its a no brainer if he can.

Agreed. Been obvious since early last season. Maybe this time next year we'll be able to defend a set peice

He's got good positioning, keeps things simple where he can, but also runs with the ball. Be a good signing.

It would be good to have 3 players for every position in the team, just in case the first two aren’t good enough.. Looks like he could have a little bit more than Colback?

He'd be ideal. If Geud isn't fit we don't have a replacement. As you say, Yates can learn more on loan.

I don't think Yates will go. If this Saïss is a tall box-to-box, he is a backup for Guédioura. Yates is a replacement for Colback. Watson is a leading figure who can play a number of roles, but he's not getting any younger, neither is Guédioura for that matter, therefore five midfielders is not excessive.

The odd man out is Bridcutt.

Bridcutt was always going to be off anyway, unless the manager didn't get his targets. I understand your point, but I think Colback and Watson have similar roles. Barring long term injuries Yates will probably get little game time before January, unless we have a great run in the cup. To me a loan until January seems the best option.

So do we think this is player is a genuine target for us, or are Wolves/his agent touting him for a move?

Didn't we smash the club transfer record on a midfielder just recently?

In their first two games they started Moutinho and Neves in centre mid and used an academy lad (Gibbs-White) off the bench in both games, they also have Dendoncker who they signed on deadline day getting up to speed, there's also Coady who was a CM before being converted to a CB by their manager so it seems as though Saiss could be 5th choice CM minimum. But they do have quite a small squad and play 3 at the back so a player who can cover CM and CB might be someone they want to keep hold of.

Doesn't make sense if this is true. Club is absolutely over-run with players all on good money.

This money is nothing compared to the riches that will come from earning promotion this season.

If we sign this guy I am vindicated, 'cause we're clearly going all out for promotion in 18/19.
