Reinstate Replays in the FA Cup or Initiate a Vote Among Participating Teams

As a passionate football fan, I have seen how the removal of replays from the FA Cup has negatively impacted smaller clubs. The opportunity for these clubs to host big teams at their home grounds was not just an exciting event, but also a significant source of income. With replays removed, smaller clubs are losing out on potential revenue that can be vital for their survival and growth.

The FA Cup is known for its tradition and unpredictability. It’s where dreams come true for smaller teams when they get to play against top-tier teams - sometimes even winning against them. However, with the recent changes in rules removing replays, this magic is being lost.

In 2017 alone, Sutton United earned around £700k from their cup run which included a replay (source: BBC Sport). This money can be transformative for lower league clubs and helps level the playing field in an increasingly financially polarised sport.

We urge The Football Association to either reinstate replays or at least hold a vote among all participating teams before making such impactful decisions. Let’s preserve what makes the FA Cup special while ensuring fairness and financial stability across all levels of football.

Please sign this petition if you believe in preserving tradition while supporting small football clubs’ financial sustainability.
