Pub for Sunday

Tutts

I've just remembered to two twattish coppers who stopped me on the way into the ground.

Had much to drink Sir?

About 4 pints?

Really? Surely in the time it's taken you to come down from Nottingham you've had more than that.

I've come from Guildford, mate.

(Other female copper butting in) That's still quite a long way though.

It's 25 miles away. About 35 minutes on the train.

Yeah, but we need to make sure we don't let in anyone into the ground who's too drunk.

Riggghhhtttt.....

Right well, we're just checking, we don't want anything inciting the home fans.

Great, by the way is there a bar inside?

Errr...yes.

Cheers (wandered off.)

:D What a bunch of wallys.

To be fair the woman who searched your bag and then mine said she didn't think you looked drunk at all when they stopped you.

Maybe it was the Aussie accent

It was crazy though! Especially as she asked me if I had any glass in my bag, I said no even though I had my perfume in there - she rummaged through it before letting me walk straight in.

Walkabout is rubbish.

Come to the Hawksley, young Flagman.

Bring your dad and his hat. That was one quality Russian style hat. Flagmans Dadski.

I will be there in the Hawksley, from around 1200 wasn't it? Or did I make that bit up from Tuesday night?

Yeah, maybe just before 12, to ensure good seating and a good Sunday lunch ahead of a good match.

Getting to our seats the other game, the steward at the top of T5 said "Ah! The tea-cosy is here!" :D :D

Where did you say this Hawksley place was?

It's on derby Rd.

As you walk up from Maid Marian Way it's on thel eft just before you get to Canning Circus.

Next door to a music shop called Windblowers and about 50 yards further up the hill from Budgens.

Indeed, that's the badger.

They do Sunday Lunches when they have Premiership games on, so can't see them not for this, especially if it's in plenty of time before the game.

I think we should aim to get there and commondere the upstairs area (with it's living room feel, and patio door smoking area), for about 11-11.30.

Well, hopefully we can get a decent group from here in there, and have a cracking old time.

My girls are playing against West Bridgford, with a 1.30 kick off at West Park. Does anyone know if there is anywhere nearer than Southbank where I can nip and watch (some of) the game?

The Maypole is just up the road (back towards the Ring Road) opposite the Harvester

Went to the Brunswick when I saw Sunderland play Derby last season. Had some good beers on, was inevitably packed solid though. They had mounds of massive ham or cheese cobs that are quite cheap if you want a quick bite before the game.
