Ruins my first joke of the season. Fancy a pint in Poyets corner? To much guffaws and mirth. My one good joke I've been saving since I saw him as a player in the mid nineties. Just ripped up the fag packet I had written it on in disgust.

Bad news. Something needs to happen quick.

I can see the whole manager situation dragging on until mid July now. Leaving a load of players in limbo and our best players not keen on sticking around if they don't have a clue what's going on.

Get it done and dusted ASAP!

I wonder how much was pure speculation or was Poyet linked to Greek Investment, that tale seems to have gone very quiet after many hushed whispers and nods it was on.

The only two that I would be "happy" with are Pearson or O'Neill, and we could be waiting months for one of them for him to say no!

A name could easily come out of nowhere though, but whatever happens it has to be done fairly soon.

I'd be happy with either of those as well, just can't see it happening sadly.

The funny thing is that Poyet is good enough for the best league in the world but for many on here he was not good enough for Nottingham Forest. Perhaps the delusions of grandeur can be toned down a bit now.

I was always suspicious of it because every version always traced back to twitter or the NEP, there was never an official source, not even an "unnamed club employee".

Then I heard the Betis rumour and pretty shortly after that broke both Poyet and Betis confirmed mutual interest and as soon as that was out other information started to appear that cast further doubts over the Forest link.

It turns out he's had contact with Betis for weeks and in an interview about 3 weeks ago he was asked by a Spanish journalist about speculation in the English press linking him to championship clubs (in the plural) to which he responded he wouldn't rule out working at that level again one day but at present he'd prefer a job in Liga.

So if he's been in bed with the Spanish for weeks and ruled himself out of a championship job weeks ago it seems to me most of this has been pure speculation.

I had a Jordan Rhodes joke lined up for about a month if Boro had failed in their promotion attempt. I'll never get that moment back...
