benoit assou-ekotto will be on big wages and while he's decent , he can be way too causual as a defender. Watch him last season for QPR and there are times when he could have just kick the ball out but instead , tried to dribble his way out of trouble in his own area which is not good at all.

Villa wants Jon Arne-Riise so not likely. Riise could have been good for one season even though we already have like 3 left backs.

Tomasz Kuszczak is also a free agent. He's a good keeper and at a good age with good experience. With Darlow already a newcastle player and De Vries contract ending after this season , Evitmov is still too young. We could do with a new experienced keeper.

I think we are best to leave our powder dry and see how injuries play out. The money might come very useful in January.

Any spare money would be better spent on keeping this squad together rather than adding to it. For the first time Since the early nineties I'm totally content with what we have and don't see the need for any additions.

We should be buying for the u21 team only.

Agreed.

We already have a big squad and the space for a couple of loans if we need them. Obviously if a top quality winger or striker is left out of the Prem squads then get them in on loan straight away but in general I would rather we let this squad compete until January and then reevaluate if we need anything for a promotion push.
