Nowhere near 1st team ready for the Prem. I watch a lot of Sunderland games and this lad is miles off it at the moment. He has some good attributes but passing is inconsistent and falls asleep positionally at times.

I watch a fair few sunderland games too and agree entirely.

I have a feeling we'll do both - how many times have we heard we gave no money only to spend a load?

Tbh think with the earlier Hackney link we are manoeuvring for an O'Brien/Worral out to Boro with Hackney coming in, with the Ekwah rumours just showing we have other options. Could be miles off though.

You're probably right, I'd just much prefer it if say we have £25m to spend, we use it all on a striker rather than £10-15m on another Wood and £10m on a smattering of youth prospects that might end up being too good for a Championship team...

Or even £10-15m on a senior striker and then a youth prospect striker rather than midfielder.

I can see merit in getting the best and brightest from the championship too - look at Gyokeres who's absolutely ripping it up in Spain and now has clubs looking at his 100m release clause. (Granted you could point to Brereton who isn't!)

Point is if we aren't going to make our own players for the next handful of years, we have to get talent to develop into prem players from somewhere, and I'd rate the champ as just as likely as Brazil etc. if you do your scouting well enough.

Totally agree, spend (relatively) big money on targetted positions, we've got too big a squad as it is...

Unless there's some Murillo equivalents that play GK or CF in south america, we'll have them, ta
