Phil Dowd Yesterday

I thought we had a decent game yesterday considering he is a Premiership ref,But people around me were shouting for a penalty for Jaidi challenged on Tyson in the 2nd half.

Quite like him, for two reasons.

1) He shares the same birthday as me
2) He cost Jewell a good result against Arsenal last year.

Wigan should of had a penalty when Flamini brought down Heskey, shortly before Dowd didn't allow Skoko I think it was back onto the pitch after an injury, during this exact moment Flamini recieved the ball in an offside position (who should have been sent off for the Penalty claim) whose cross was turned in by Fitz Hall!

Quality!

By far the best referee I've seen this season. Thought he should've at least booked the **** that is Carsley, but aside from that (I thought that Tys was in the area, but the lack of player protests suggests perhaps he wasn't - and t'was t'other end of the pitch from me).

Tys wasn't in the area, he got that one spot on (I sit in T5)

Looked to me like a stone wall pen in the 2nd half when Tyson was brought down again though - but that's the other end of the pitch from me!!

Thought he had an ok game too... BUT, only because he was lenient with Forest players in the second half (namely, Perch and Thornhill).

And the free kick leading to Birmingham's goal, it never was! It was the only foul for that kind of studs up tackle he gave, and the only one where the player cleanly played the ball and I don't think Wilson even made contact with the Brum player until after he'd played the ball. It was a ridiculous decision.

That Quashie tackle on Perch - that was worse than McGugan's v Derby. As was the one by Carsley on Wes/Camp. It was amazing Carsley didn't get booked. He went up for every header with his elbow leading.

Jaidi definately should have gone. Not booking a player for deliberate handball!? I think Paul Ince would have something to say about that!

And yeah, the foul on Tyson was just outside the box from what I saw.

Yeah, that Quashie tackle would've been a red had it been later in the game, I'm sure.

He definitely made mistakes, but you're right - for both sides.

On the flip side, I'm not exactly sure why we were given a freekick when we scored our goal either...

Oh yeah, I remember that! That evened it up I suppose.

I think that Quashie tackle, was just a bit late really. Nothing malicious. They should be yellow cards I think. Did you see Darren Purse's straight red yesterday? Like Lewis', another terrible decision!

Jaidi should have been sent off and then it would have been a completely different game. His handling of player tantrums was very good though.

Definitely the best ref we've been lumbered with this season - at least from the matches I've seen.

I thought the second half when Tyson went down, looked to me as well. Stone wall Penalty.

However the first half was a good yard outside the box and the Ref got it right.

There was also a good shout for a penalty in the first half when morgan was held back by two defenders in the box. I think it was from a corner and the Trent End saw it. I was the kind of incident that is more likely to be given in Premiership matches.

I saw that too, some Brum player was bear hugging Wes. We never get those though.

I won't be surprised if we don't get a penalty or a player sent off vs us all season.

I don't remember Tyson going down in the second half? When was that?

Was that in the first half? If so I think I know hte incident you're talking about...I remember at the time being rather pissed off that it wasn't given. Happened right in front of me.

Can't have been much worse than the ref at Havant - Brentford. Missed two obvious shirt pulls in the box. One I am sure the Brentford player was trying to swap shirts early int he first half.

Had a good game on sat, the penalty that wasn't (in the first half) very close so hard to call but probably was outside, the free kick we scored from probably wasn't one but Colin Frahysummed it up perfectly he basically said that if you consistantly foul around your area eventually you will get caught out with a bad decision, which they were.

My only problem was Jaidi could of been sent off 2-3 times, and Quashie could of been sent out 1-2
