Paul Anderson: 'I'm playing some of the best football of my career' HAHA!

Just to resurrect this thread after today's match against Palace; if Paul Anderson thinks he's playing his best football at present then he's a bit mistaken.

He did not look confident today and his distribution was poor.

Sounded like McGovern wanted to murder him at times!

He was frustrating again. He defenders excellently, he gets in good positions, he gets in space, he gets given the ball - but he doesn't deliver. The first thing he did was run towards a player and kick the ball AT HIM as he tried to run past him. He has done this a lot and I don't understand how he keeps doing it when there is so much space either side of the defender. His first cross went in the middle of nowhere when players were free, he hit a one on one straight at the keeper after brilliantly reading the ball and running onto it, he squared another cross inbetween two totally unmarked Forest players etc etc

I think his problem is he doesn't look up or doesn't read where players are running to very well. I believe he is a good player and has the ability, there's just something wrong with his decision making.

On the up side, Anderson does keep things tight defensively and bringing McCleary on against a tiring defence works very well.

He was much better than Earnshaw...

He did well today, up to a point. That 'point' is the key one though, he missed an easy chance and constantly failed to pick out people in the box.

laughable once again

That chance at the end :D

If he had have scored that it would be different but he's pure shite

I can think of 11 Palace players (and subs) who were worse. Completely unfair on the lad. Contributed. Unlike presumably some of you lot to his confidence. He helped keep Palace on the back foot throughout.

I didnt think he was too bad today. He just frustrates me by not attacking space like he should be, he looks scared when confronted with a defender and acres either side and in behind him.

Do we like to try and call as many players as possible? Not long ago Cohen was getting it, now Ando, who next?

Maybe BD is asking him to play a different style to his normal winger style? He is a young lad, and those saying he is utter shite, lets be realistic he isnt utter shite at all.

He isnt playing the best he has done, but he doesnt need all this flack.

Spot on. Definitely not the worst Forest player on the pitch today.

.

What other style than - beat yor man, cross balls to red shirts and score every known and then could he ask him to play as a winger?

He's young and will most likley come good, but at the moment he contributes very little going forward. I dont think people would have picked up on this so much if he hadn't have said such toss in the press.

Well for a start he could be asked not to try and beat his man every time, he could be asked to alter his style of crossing, he could be asked to cut in and not cut out. There are so many possibilities available, which alter every game dependant on who is marking him.

I don't understand why he gets so much stick. He worked as hard as anyone whilst he was on the pitch yesterday and always gives 100%. Personally I think he has improved since he joined, particularly in consistency and off the ball. He seems a bit low on confidence at the moment in front of goal, but hey so does Earnshaw.

Although some of the stick is quite excessive, I don't see why a player can't be called up for some glaring faults when it is profound, otherwise, how do you improve as a player?

Gunter, McCleary, McGugan, Raddy, Bertrand etc they don't seem to have much problem dribbling the ball around players by taking the ball with them or, like Tyson does, knock the ball into the space before attempting to run past them.

It is probably the only weak point in Anderson's game, but for a winger/attacking player, it's quite an important one. If he could beat his man and go through on goal, as he has had a lot of opportunities to do this season, he'd have 5-10 goals this season and be a potential Premiership player like someone like Matt Jarvis at Wolves.

Think he has more weak points than that mate, he's a winger who can't cross or beat a man unless they are very slow. He's not overly skillful and relies on his pace to beat a player and even that ain't elite speed ala tyson.

Agree its unfair to slate our own players but I think Ando has been found out a bit at Championship level. With his contract being up this season I guess people are wondering whether he will be offered a new one OR if he deserves a new one considering we want to be in the prem in a couple of years.

I wish we would extend some more contracts soon e.g Earnie, so far we've only extended Gunts.

i wish people would stop talking about his work rate. Tyson's got good work rate but he's still shite!

A little harsh on Anderson, in this thread & the Matchday22 thread.

I think it's just a confidence issue - have we all forgotten acres of last season's talent & form?

It's a pity his one-on-one didn't go in yesterday - would have worked wonders for his confidence.

Stand by him - he'll come good in a couple of weeks. :)

What talent and form? lol.

He was just as bad last season but got overshadowed by the team playing well
