I lived in Fterno for 11years. Holidays in Nidri for about 15 years before that though. Back in the UK now for my sins.

A regular at Biblos bar,Ola Kala and the Tree bar when in Nidri no doubt 🤣.

Definitely sinned if you're back in the UK after living in Lefkada for 11 years.

He lets you know how he feels up front hey?

He's managed to adjust to that top four level of entitlement seemlessly.

I don't know which is the wierdest phenomenon; these streaming oddballs, or the people who spend their time watching them. Some of whom presumably could be watching or listening to the game themselves instead.

I think the only reason most of them do this, is it allows people to know that they're away from children and in a place where they can be monitored safely.

And ironically most of the viewership is either children or opposition supporters.

Half of them aren’t as stupid as they seem because they don’t believe half the shit they say, they do it so they can monetise viewership like Wolverine does. But the other half genuinely are just thick gobshites.

Just out of interest, does anyone know how long this lot have been referred to as "The Toon" and why?
For all of my childhood and most of my adult life they were "The Magpies".

Also, "toon" is, I assume, 'town', which makes no sense to me?

Definitely. Theres those that are actually good at what they do, and know how to make the most of their platform (I'm looking at AFTV and a couple of the Man U ones here), then theres the others, who are trying to be the versions of those you get from Wish, then, the ones who just do it because it looks 'easy'..

Best one I ever saw was a guy streaming a match and pretending it was Fifa.. :D

Say town with a Geordie accent.
Its as simple as that.

i haven’t watched them all but I think toffee tv is a good one. I also think AFTV set the benchmark for fan channels, some absolute melts on that platform but they genuinely do produce some great content that I would love to see a Forest channel do.

It’s normally pretty easy to spot cancerous channels because they don’t go to games & live stream themselves watching the games. Simply put it’s the laziest and easiest way to monetize it.

Yes, I'm fully aware of that mate, but as I said, the relevance is lost on me in terms of its reference to the football club?
Same here, I think its more of a 'Going down town' type thing, then that becomes associated with 'Going to the football'..

I can tell you from experience that town or toon is Newcastle (as we all know) but even if you live in a place like Morpeth which is 15 miles away, the people will still refer to town as either Morpeth or Newcastle and it’s annoying a hell.

One of the first times I went on a date with my now wife, we agreed to meet in town at a certain shop. Ten minutes after the agreed meeting time I rang her and she was 15 miles away and not in the town that would clearly be the one any sane person would expect (i.e. Morpeth, where she lived).

As for the footy, I think they’re just proud of the dump and I’ve no idea when Toon Army started. It’s always been sung as far back as I can remember.

I went to uni in Newcastle and lived there 5 years. Geordies have consistently called the city ‘The Toon’, both colloquially in a local sense but also, and especially, when away from Newcastle. That then translated into the fans taking the moniker The Toon Army, with the team then getting informally nicknamed The Toon as well. Most outside of Newcastle would never say that though and still refer to them as the Magpies which is the official nickname.

It's at least 30 years.

It's short for 'cartoon'. It's because they're a Mickey Mouse club, who have won shrek all.
